Happy Amāvāsyā Moon on 25th June 2025, From the Vedic Wisdom of the Fixed Stars Nakṣatras for week of 25th June 2025.
The New Moon Amāvāsyā begins in the in lunar Month of jyestha
In constellation of Ardra, Vedic deity of it is the Rudra. Rudra for human being in this Kali Yuga is one of the most important forms of Siva for us. There is no doubt in that, as the 8th house and Saturn, are our bulk of afflictions in our lives. Naturally our mind takes us to the ekādaśa-rudra) Rudra (रुद्र) —eleven emanations of Rudra according to the Aṃśumadbhedāgama and the Śilparatna. The images of this aspects of Śiva should have three eyes, four arms, jaṭāmakuṭas and be of white colour. It should be draped also in white clothes and be standing erect (samabhaṅga) on a padmapīṭha. As per Viśvakarma-śilpa, the names are given as:
1. Aja,
2. Ekapāda,
3. Ahirbudhnya,
4. Virūpāksha,
5. Revata,
6. Hara, (hara hara Mahadev)
7. Bahurūpa,
8. Tryambaka, Trymbaka Shiva)
9. Sureśvara,
10. Jayanta,
11. Aparājita.
The creation of Rudra is complex and very much multifaceted. The list varies and there are also some texts carrying 12 Rudras. Rudra was born from between the eyebrows of Brahmā as the result of his anger, generated from the mode of passion partly touched by ignorance, is of importance in the idea of Rudra. ŚB 3.12.11
हृदिन्द्रियाण्यसुर्व्योम वायुरग्निर्जलं मही ।

My dear boy, I have already selected the following places for your residence: the heart, the senses, the air of life, the sky, the air, the fire, the water, the earth, the sun, the moon and austerity.
In Bhagavad-gītā (3.37Bhagavad-gītā Chapter Three: Karma-yoga
श्री भगवानुवाच
काम एष क्रोध एष रजोगुणसमुद्भवः ।
महाशनो महापाप्मा विद्ध्येनमिह वैरिणम् ॥ ३७ ॥
the principle of Rudra is described. The egocentric attitude is a manifestation of the Rudra principle in the heart, wherein krodha (anger) is generated. It is lust only, Arjuna, which is born of contact with the material mode of passion and later transformed into wrath, and which is the all-devouring sinful enemy of this world.
This aspect of Rudra is one of the most important aspect in our life as therapists/Astrologers/Jyotishis. It is because, this anger develops in the heart as we feel the need to fulfil our passions whatever they may be. Whether it is the pull of the knowledge which may make us l***y for material advancements and glory of all kinds. Often failure of some kind may spring us into a sense of frustration and leaving us angry. This anger is further manifested through various senses, like the eyes, hands and legs.
With every passing decade, as a Raj Jyotisha, the wisdom needs to appear, where in you would want to ‘non attach’ to the results and the constant seeking of material benefits. It is this ambitious lust which induces the pure living entity to remain entangled in the material world. Wrath is the manifestation of the mode of ignorance.
There are many earthly creatures who constantly represent the Rudra element. The snake, tiger and lion are always representations of Rudra. When the Rudra principle is exhibited by persons who are not engaged in the devotional service of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, the angry person falls down from the peak of his improved position.
Rudra as the “Howling One” is One of the male offspring from Mahākālī (tamas-form of Mahādevī). Also known as Śiva or Saṅkara (“Causing Prosperity, Beneficent, Auspicious”). Mahākālī is one of the three primary forms of Devī, the other two being Mahālakṣmī and Mahāsarasvatī. Not to be confused with Kālī, she is a more powerful cosmic aspect (vyaṣṭi) of Devi and represents the guṇa (universal energy) named tamas. Also see the Devī Māhātmya, a Sanskrit work from the 5th century.
Rudra also refers to the Rudramudrā refers to one of the fifty-three Mudrās (ritual hand gestures) described in chapter 22 (Caryāpāda) of the Padmasaṃhitā: the most widely followed of Saṃhitā covering the entire range of concerns of Pāñcarātra doctrine and practice (i.e., the four-fold formulation of subject matter—jñāna, yoga, kriyā and caryā) consisting of roughly 9000 verses.—Description of the chapter [mudrālakṣaṇa-vidhi]: Brahmā asks the meaning, uses and varieties of mudrā-gestures. Bhagavān says these finger movements are ways to fend off evil and to prevent those taking pleasure in harming others. Furthermore, they please the Lord-so long as they are demonstrated in private (1-5a). This is such a m,onumental text for mudras, that even coming from Rigveda, mudras form an integral part of this base of knowledge. For example all the semi vowels, vowels, consonants can be expressed in terms of hand mudras or gestures. Hrasvamudra - Mudra for short (hrasva) syllables. All fingers are 2. extended in all joints and all fingers except the thumb are in apposition with each other. Eg:-Devasya, Asavi, Gayata Murdhanyamudra - Mudra for retroflex (murdhanya). Consonants, viz, ta, tha, da, dha, na, sa and la followed by short vowel or e. Ring finger flexed at metacarpophalangeal joint and first interphalangeal joint, extended at last interphalangeal joint, all other fingers extended and separated from each other.
This is of course just an instance, so there are mudras for mantras ending in certain syllables etc.
We just finished Divinations Bharata 2025 Conference (one day left and registration still open) where my talk has been on Mudras.

And after researching for months on end on the Mudras, I was absolutely fascinated to the extent of the knowledge base coming from Siva in the form of Rudra who is responsible for this vast monumental work.
Hence this New Moon, Ardra falling completely in gemini, exaltation of Rahu/3rd house matters, (mudras is of course a ‘3rd house matter’ is fitting that all the Eka Dasa or dwadasa Rudras should preside over this knowledge. Of course the Knowledge of Siva is never without some tapas involved. No pain no gain!
