So you now how it’s depressing and cold in January and everyone feels depressed. My thoughts are, it’s the month to put yourself first, me care time, be warm, massage yourself, your feet your head, nice warm drinks, in bed early, be kind to yourself, positive thoughts, be in the moment, be happy doing absolutely nothing. These moments are priceless. Change your perspective, it’s all about you! Yay!

Karela - Bitter Gourd a very bitter vegetable. A client of mine asked me to make her some as she is feeding her newborn I thought I would share the recipe here.
Prescriptions of herbs and foods in Ayurveda are made according to their taste. Bitter pacifies the Pitta and Kapha doshas. It is used as a cholagogue (healthy bile function) and encourages breast milk so is good for nursing mothers.
Recipe: 2 karela, onion, garlic and ginger paste, ghee, coconut milk, fenugreek seeds, mustard seeds and coriander powder, a squeeze of lemon.
Slice the karela and remove the seeds. Fry the onion in ghee until soft. Add the masala, ginger and garlic and fry until it smells fragrant, add some salt and pepper to taste. Add some water to the mixture so it doesn’t burn. Add the sliced karela, and fry, until soft, add some more water and coconut milk powder. Add a squeeze of lemon. Cover and cook until the oil separates from the curry. Add a dollop of ghee at the end for good measure. Enjoy!

Just attended this webinar with speaker and Ayurvedic Dr. Claudia Welch on hormones and women’s health. She guided us to consider our health according to our karma, dharma and spirituality. Bridging it as both a concept and treatment pattern.

Inspired in sharing a space where the physical, mental, spiritual and universal realms are given equal importance and the keys to health and fulfilment.

Thank you Dr. Claudia Welch for questioning and approaching health at its root and harmoniously intertwining perspective, intellectual understanding and intuition in all of your work.

Thank you to the for organising such a insightful webinar.

ANXIETY

Just listened to talking about over thinking, worrying, feeling excluded. Our innate fight and flight response. Anxiety is excess VATA : AIR
Steps to take:
- Live in the moment; concentrate on the here and now. Worrying about a future you can’t guarantee is worthless
- Work on self love. You are enough, a supreme being on a human journey. Tell yourself that!
- Drink warm drinks, eat cooked warm food. Exclude cold and uncooked foods.
- Massage yourself with warm oil
- Breathe deeply from your abdomen. Release the stagnant air
- Go to bed at the same time every night; routine is key

THE CHAKRAS

A universal energy force that we don’t really pay enough attention to. Many of us have blocked Chakras and we don’t even know it. We don’t know how they affect our well-being; physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Most importantly we don’t know enough about them, to free them.

You are probably aware there are seven Chakras that run from the top of our skull all the way down the end of the spine. The word ‘Chakra’ is an ancient Sanskrit term meaning ‘wheel’. This definition has great importance and potential, take heed to it. The Chakras exist in the subtle body, at a physics level. They are interconnected to the ether, the universe, our soul. It is an energy that spins. When a chakra is blocked that spin is hindered. Imagine a wheel that can’t spin freely. If it was a car we would be quite concerned. Luckily a car wheel can be fixed easily, a mechanic just physically fixes it, with oil and a spanner, job done! With our Chakras it’s a bit more of a challenge because we have learn to access them on an energetic level.

To unblock one Chakra or all the them it does take time and practice. If they have been blocked for months, even years, it may take months to release them. Just remember this practice is a journey, and a worthwhile one at that. It may just change your life! Once you are aware, you can use them, as part of a toolbox, to free blocked emotions, harmonise anxiety, release long term trauma, tackle pain, encourage physical healing, the list can go on…

So, how do we access the Chakras, these seven wheels of abundant energy. Well, it requires us to sit, to chant, to meditate, to release, to flow, to dance, to be ourselves. Ultimately, it is the practice of going inside and concentrating on one Chakra at a time. To raise the vibration of each one. In doing so we merge our physical body with the energy field of the universe. That is when we become truly one, the universal I. It is the key to our freedom.

You may have been part of yoga or well-being journey whereby the practitioner has shared with you to be at one with the universe. As you can understand there are multiple ways of accessing the abundant energy of universe and the chakras are that opportunity. Free flowing chakras are when the miracles happen ✨

Let me know your journey? Your experiences?

We made it! This little planet only slightly larger than our moon has a big personality and boy did we feel it! It went direct yesterday after being retrograde since 29th December. Primarily made of iron it is our neighbour. It is the closest planet to the Earth and the Sun. With no atmosphere it’s temperature ranges are vast; 430°C day time and -180°C at night. Welcome once again to unhindered communication.
