Journaling can be a helpful tool for individuals with dementia. It can improve cognitive function, provide an emotional outlet, and help maintain a sense of identity and self-awareness.
The benefits of journaling for those affected by dementia are:
🌸 Cognitive Stimulation:
Writing, especially by hand, can stimulate brain activity and potentially slow down memory loss by strengthening neural connections.
🌸 Emotional Expression:
Journaling provides a safe space for individuals to express feelings, frustrations, and happy memories, which can alleviate anxiety and promote emotional well-being.
🌸 Improved Communication:
Journaling can help individuals with dementia communicate their thoughts and feelings to caregivers, strengthening bonds and fostering understanding.
🌸 Sense of Identity and Self-Awareness:
Creating a journal allows individuals to reflect on their lives and maintain a sense of who they are, which can be particularly helpful when memory is fading.
🌸 Tracking Symptoms and Identifying Triggers:
Caregivers can use journals to track changes in behaviour, identify potential triggers for difficult situations, and understand what strategies are helpful or unhelpful.

Working in any little A6 notebook or journal insert that you should choose to bring along, this workshop will focus on how to set up your own Garden or Botanical journal.
This journal workshop is specifically aimed at encouraging us all to get outdoors more; to enjoy our local woodlands & parks and to celebrate nature within our own gardens! Let's try to take a little more notice of the beautiful local flora that surrounds us every day, and take heart from the miniature works of art growing courageously beneath our feet throughout each and every season.
please book early to avoid disappointment.
