What is BMI? 🤔
Body mass index is a measurement taken using your height and weight to work out if your weight is healthy.
A high or low BMI may be an indicator of poor diet, varying activity levels, or high stress. Just because someone has a ‘normal BMI’ does not mean that they are healthy.
🔸Below 18.5: underweight
🔸 Between 18.5 and 24.9: healthy weight
🔸 Between 25 and 29.9: overweight
🔸 Over 30: obese
Weight loss treatments are usually prescribed to anyone who fits the following criteria:
🔸 Obesity with a BMI of 30 or above
🔸 Overweight with a BMI of 27 or above with a weight-related health condition such as type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol or high blood pressure.
There are other factors our prescribers consider before prescribing weight loss treatments.
