The hips are one of the primary areas where the body stores unprocessed emotions and trauma especially stress, fear, and suppressed feelings.

Sit or lie comfortably

Somatic bodywork helps by down-regulating the nervous system โ€” lowering baseline cortisol, supporting the vagus nerve, and creating space for your bodyโ€™s natural hormonal rhythms to stabilize. Gentle awareness-based movement and breath signal safety to the brain, allowing the endocrine system to return to balance without force.

Try this 3-minute Somatic Hormonal Reset (perfect for mornings or midday):

Stand or sit tall with feet flat on the ground.
Place one hand on your lower belly, one on your chest.
Inhale slowly through the nose for 4 counts โ€” feel your belly expand gently.
Exhale softly through the mouth for 6โ€“8 counts โ€” let your shoulders and belly soften.
As you breathe, slowly sway your hips side to side or make tiny pelvic circles (very gentle, like rocking a cradle).
Notice sensations in your pelvis, lower back, and belly โ€” warmth, softening, pulsing, or release. No judgment, just curiosity.
Do 8โ€“10 slow breaths.

Interoception is the ability to notice whatโ€™s happening inside your body.
It can be as simple as noticing your breath, a flutter in your chest, tension in your jaw, or warmth in your hands.

A gentle practice you can try today:

Pause for 30 seconds.

Close your eyes if that feels safe.

Notice 3 sensations inside your body without trying to change them.

Ask: What do I feel? Where do I feel it? Is it moving or still?

The goal is not to fix anything. The goal is simply to listen. The more you notice, the more connected you become to your bodyโ€™s signals.
