EXERCISE & NUTRITION are the cornerstone to any fitness programme, but the path YOU choose to reach your goals is individual to YOU. I do not believe in a ‘one size fits all’ solution to health and fitness. Each individual needs to experiment with what works best for them. Following an initial consultation, I work closely together with each client to find the UNIQUE FITNESS PLAN that works for him or her. In order to design an effective programme, I exploit the foundations of ‘correct’ exercise & nutrition, whilst taking into account the client as an individual. The first step is to look at current nutritional habits and fitness levels, but there are also many other factors to consider:
* unique physical ‘make up’
* lifestyle & time commitments
* medical history & past injuries
* stress levels
* coping strategies
* sleep patterns…

…& lastly likes & dislikes: those factors that will MOTIVATE rather than ALIENATE...

A little note to say I hope you've all been able to relax a little over the holiday season, & also a reminder that this needs to be a in our daily lives

I've been lucky enough to take a break away over Christmas & enjoy some quality 💕
*
We've had the loveliest time, visiting new places & drinking in new experiences - from camels 🐫 to volcanoes 🌋, from water sports 🏄‍♂️ to spa time 🧘‍♀️
*
In the midst of all this, it has really hit me that - even when on holiday - we need to consciously carve out time to relax...& not just run from one adventure to the next! I have caught myself needing to just soooo many times over this last week ...& it has made every experience so much richer 💕
*
So my Shaw Lifestyle promise to myself as 2023 dawns is to keep checking in with myself & keep pausing to breathe every.single.day 💕

For all the years I lived in Greece - & for the many I've been visiting - I have always loved the way the light changes through the day...

We've been lucky enough to visit my 2nd home over the last couple of weeks, & to enjoy ☀️ & fabulous Greek food 🇬🇷
*
We've taken time to pause, time to reset...& definitely time to recharge for what's ahead 💕
*
For me personally that fabulous sense of relaxation on holiday is ALWAYS a reminder of how very important it is to create those during our "normal" day to day too, & not only on holiday... So my morning intention today is to actually schedule in those moments throughout the coming weeks...& ensure that the chaos of September doesn't simply take over & undo all the good of my Greek "reset" 😘

So what's not to love?! Sooo many benefits to physical AND mental health ❤💚

from those trees too 🌲🌲 (hint: that's what puts our stress ⬇️ & our immunity ⬆️...it's all about phytoncides & how these affect the activity of human natural killer (NK) cells)

And it doesn't HAVE to mean going out for a run! The MOST important thing is to - & if you're going to succeed in committing to that, it needs to be something you enjoy doing 😘. Sooooo...

▶️ walk or run 🚶‍♀️🏃‍♀️
▶️ shift weights or do yoga 🏋‍♀️🧘‍♀️
▶️ go on a hike or dance around your kitchen! ⛰💃..but whatever you do, MOVE!
*..& you will be massively improving your physical AND your mental health ❤💚

I confess it was a struggle to get going today (& I got into the gym literally hours after I'd initially intended to!!) but I made it 🤗 & I feel better for it 👍

Sooo, the idea of a workout did NOT fill me with joy this morning, but the way I feel afterwards does 🤗🤗. And if you're not up for a full blown workout why not get outside for a brisk walk...it'll give you all those same benefits 😘

How is September treating you??

I've been speaking with a lot of clients who are feeling the at the mo...

The end of summer, the threat of days becoming ever shorter, winter around the corner...
*
It can be very easy to get caught up in this (hands up, I'm guilty of it too 🙋‍♀️) and it can really make things tough 🙄
*
So how about we turn this on its head, & try a little 🔃
*
▶️ although summer is coming to an end we can ENJOY that ending as we turn towards autumn sunshine
▶️ as the nights draw in we can look towards snuggling up & feeling cosy
▶️ we can enjoy those gorgeous 🍂🍁 as they start peeping round the corner 😘
*
So ultimately, tho we always think of January for new beginnings, in many ways September is just that...as we say goodbye to summer 👋 we are saying hello to so many other things...
*
My "go to" when things are feeling tough is getting out in nature 🌲🌲. Why not give it a go? If you're with me in the UK, make the most of the gorgeous sunny days we're enjoying just now: drink in the September sunshine & take a moment to BREATHE & notice the changes all around you....as you tune in to those beautiful colours of autumn you'll see that this time of year really isn't all bad 💕💕...& you'll be practising a little too 🙏🙏
