Trek4Ceylon

Trek4Ceylon Trek4Ceylon (T4C) cycle across Sri Lanka as a symbol of healing, restoration and hope for this island nation.

Trek4Ceylon Ltd is a charity registered in the United Kingdom, which raises funds through cycling, marathons, trekking, walking and other activities to provide support to the medical infrastructure and underprivileged communities in Sri Lanka and other countries across the world. We ride together across Sri Lanka as a visible symbol of our hope and desire to bring physical, emotional and mental healing, as well as unity and peace, to a land scarred by war and division. Trek4Ceylon is run by a group of volunteers who are keen to help the less fortunate, and strive to operate the charity with integrity and transparency. The bike ride is organised and run by a dedicated T4C team. We work together with other Trek for Ceylon charities based in Canada, Australia, USA and Sri Lanka. Please contact us if you require a charitable donation receipt.

πŸ‘‡πŸΌEnglish Translation - My name is Kamalnathan Punithavathy, I reside east of Puttur. Close to our home β€œamma” hospital (local residents refer to St. Luke’s as β€œAmma” or mother’s hospital). For a long time the hospital has not been functioning. We humbly request for the hospital to be fixed for us. We have heard our brother (not sure who she is referring to) is trying to achieve this with foreign and local help. There are about five thousand locals in this area presently have to go to the Jaffna or Tirunelveli hospitals. Transportation can take time and sometimes challenging during seasons of rain and flooding. Fixing this hospital for us will be a great help for us. Thank you!

*DISASTER RELIEF*

Further to our previous message, it has come to our attention that the team monitoring the Disaster Management Centre calls are not being provided with food.

The team of approximately 100 people are working 24/7 to help the victims of this disaster. Additionally, as they are working through the night, they are unable to order from Uber or other delivery services.

Trek4Ceylon has decided to assist these individuals, who are working tirelessly, by providing food.

Anyone wishing to support the DMC Call Centre Team can donate via our JustGiving page by using the *reference DMC FOOD.*

*Cyclone Ditwa Emergency Relief Appeal*

Following the devastating floods, landslides and severe adverse weather in Sri Lanka - the country is reeling from significant human and material losses.

According to the Disaster Management Centre current figures, 12,313 families have been affected, 56 people have died and 21 are missing. More than 1,800 families have been displaced or relocated to temporary shelters. Tragically these numbers will inevitably increase.

Trek4Ceylon would like to help in this hour of need. We are setting up this JustGiving page to raise funds for our beloved nation and disaster stricken communities, in partnership with Alliance Development Trust and other reputable agencies. We are also liaising with overseas agencies for additional funding .

Furthermore, we’ve been advised that the need will be greater in the coming weeks when the clean up operation commences and people return to their homes.

All donations are greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Additionally, we are humbled to note, that Trek4Ceylon individuals are working round the clock at the Disaster Management Centre.
