PICU at St George's

PICU at St George's The PICU at St George's Hospital, London is a 10 bedded general PICU. We look after children with tr Our outstanding care is world renowned.

St George’s is home to one of the largest children’s hospitals in the country, with paediatric services rated outstanding by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). We are the people that parents rely on when the worst happens to their children. But our facilities are not. Built in the 70s, our wards are tired, cramped and uninviting. Lacking space, our Paediatric Intensive Care Unit is unable to treat the number of children who need its world-class care. We’re proud to have staff that are some of the most talented and dedicated in the country. However, in desperate need of space, our staff have given up their changing facilities and staff rooms to make way for more beds. This is not sustainable. Help us to raise £5m by 2024 to transform children’s services at St George’s.

Sending best wishes to patients and PICU families past and present.

Our team are once again cycling the London to Brighton this weekend, raising money for Children's Services at St. George's Hospital.

In 2023 and 2021, our team successfully resuscitated people after having cardiac arrests; hoping for a calmer ride this year?

All sponsorship will be gratefully received.

Today we’re remembering the dedication and devotion of Graham Budden, Mark Darby and Tony Richardson, who tragically lost their lives whilst serving our charity on 26th July 1998. They are forever in our hearts.

We will observe a moment of silence at 11am and encourage everyone within our communities to take part, wherever you are, to remember Graham, Mark and Tony.

Our thoughts are with their loved ones, especially today.

Geoffrey Bowry, 76, is one of 25 heart patients transferred to St George’s for lifesaving treatment after a cyber attack at other hospitals.

Mr Bowry needed an urgent quadruple bypass after a heart attack.

He said: “The thing that worries you most is if you’re going to have a bigger attack.

“Luckily enough, I was in good care so I didn’t have to worry.”

* St George’s London Paediatric Critical Care Fellowship *

Tonight we celebrate the graduation of two fantastic doctors. They leave us after 2 years working across Paediatric Critical Care at St George’s.

They have been such a pleasure to work with, and they take home 2 years of experience in our Pardiatric Critical Care Fellowship to their home country, Sri Lanka.

Thank you both, you are wonderful - we will see you again.
