Mobility plans aren’t “one and done”; they’re reviewed and adapted regularly to match changing needs, with feedback from staff, family, and ongoing physio assessments.

As a family or a healthcare provider, it’s vital to work closely with the care home to provide the best for your family member.

A good plan starts with a thorough assessment, looking at current abilities, medical history, and mobility challenges.
✅ Talk with care home staff for daily insights
✅ Involve physiotherapists for expert evaluation
✅ Include family input for a complete picture

Your loved one’s mobility plan may include:
-Personal goals they’re motivated to reach
-Safe, tailored exercises for strength, balance & flexibility
-Daily activities like walking, gardening, or light chores
-Assistive devices with proper training

📍We have a clinic at Barnet Grange Care Home, if your family member is there and you’d like to discuss their mobility requirements, please get in touch.

Sip your way to better health.

Drinking plenty of water every day isn’t just refreshing, it’s vital for keeping your body working at its best. It helps:
💧 Keep joints lubricated for easier movement
💧 Support muscle function and prevent cramps
💧 Boost energy levels throughout the day
💧 Aid circulation and digestion
💧 Improve focus and lift your mood
💧 Reduce the risk of urinary tract infections and constipation
💧 Support healthy skin and temperature regulation

As we get older, our sense of thirst can fade, meaning it’s easy to drink less than we need. But making hydration a daily habit is a simple step with big benefits for your overall well-being. During our Physiotherapy sessions, we will also check that our patient is drinking plenty.

If you don’t have a drink within reach, go and get one.

🌊✨ There’s something special about a seaside day trip, especially when it’s shared with an older loved one.

Southend-on-Sea has it all, the iconic pier stretching into the Thames Estuary, a charming flat promenade perfect for unhurried strolls, and plenty of spots to sit, chat, and soak in the views.

💨 Even in September, that coastal breeze can surprise you, pack a cardigan or jacket to stay cosy.

The magic is in taking it slow. Let them set the pace. Pause on a bench, listen to stories of childhood holidays, and watch the waves together.

A gentle walk, fresh sea air, and a change of scenery, small joys that do wonders for body and mind. 💙

25/05/2025

Physiotherapy is vital for individuals with dementia as it helps maintain physical function, independence and quality of life while potentially slowing cognitive decline through increased circulation to the brain and reducing fall risks which can lead to complications. Regular movement and exercise can also improve mood, reduce anxiety and help manage behavioural symptoms associated with dementia.

What sort of treatment will a physiotherapist suggest?
Following a thorough assessment, your physiotherapist will suggest an appropriate treatment plan.

The treatment plan will be specific to the individual's needs. However, a general treatment plan may involve:
👉 Muscle strengthening exercises
👉Dynamic balance activities
👉The practice of functional tasks – getting washed and dressed, meal preparation, toileting
👉Transfer practice – including bed, chair, toilet, getting on and off the floor, using the bath or shower
I👉ndoor and outdoor mobility practice
👉Stairs practice
👉Pain relief
👉Fatigue management
👉Provision of mobility aids and equipment

At My Physio At Home, we understand the unique challenges faced by people with dementia and their caregivers. Our specialised physiotherapists bring compassionate, personalised care directly to your home, creating a comfortable environment where familiar surroundings can enhance therapeutic outcomes and reduce confusion or distress.
