👣 Build strength and stability from your home

Building and maintaining strength helps reduce the risk of falls, and as we age, even a simple fall can take much longer to recover from.

Small movements done regularly can make a big difference to your stability, confidence, and overall well-being.

Try these simple exercises at home:
✔️ Heel raises to strengthen your calves
✔️ Sit-to-stands to build leg and core strength
✔️ Single-leg stands to improve balance
✔️ Ankle circles to keep joints mobile

Small movements done regularly can make a big difference to your stability and confidence on your feet.

If you’re struggling with balance, mobility, or foot pain, our podiatrists are here to help. 💙

Today we recognise World Health Day, observed each year on 7 April.

The theme for World Health Day 2026 is “Together for Science”, highlighting how scientific knowledge and collaboration help protect the health of people, animals, plants and our planet.
Physiotherapy is grounded in science and evidence-based practice. Every treatment plan is guided by research that helps us understand how the body moves, heals and adapts.

Through physiotherapy, we use science to help people:
✔ Restore strength and mobility
✔ Improve balance and confidence
✔ Reduce pain and inflammation
✔ Support recovery after surgery, illness or injury

At My Physio At Home, we believe in translating science into practical, personalised care that helps people move better and live more independently.

By working together, clinicians, patients, researchers and communities, we can turn evidence into action and support healthier lives for all.

Our team at My Physio specialises in elderly care, pre and post-op rehab, and oncology.
We strongly believe in empowering you to manage your condition. Book your appointment with us.

April mobility challenge
This month, we’re inviting you to join our 30-second-a-day mobility challenge.
Just 30 seconds of stretching each day can help keep your body moving well, from your feet and ankles all the way up to your back and shoulders.

Try this simple stretch:
- Stand tall with your feet hip-width apart
- Gently reach your arms up towards the sky
- Slowly rise onto your tiptoes if you can
- Take a deep breath, lengthen your body, and hold for 30 seconds

This stretch helps wake up your feet, ankles, calves, legs, and spine, improving balance, flexibility, and circulation.

Small daily habits can make a big difference to how your body feels.

Give it a try this April and let us know how you get on!

If you can’t do this easily, have pain whilst doing it or want more exercises, get in touch with our My Physio At Home team. Covering South Hertfordshire, Essex and North London.

Getting active again after winter

After the colder, darker months, spring is the perfect time to start moving a little more again. The days are lighter, the flowers are blooming, and there’s nothing quite like enjoying the sound of birdsong on a gentle walk.

If you’ve been less active over winter, start small. A short stroll around your local park or neighbourhood can be a wonderful way to ease back into movement. If you pass a local outdoor gym, why not have a go?

Walking regularly helps keep your joints mobile, muscles strong, and balance steady, all of which are important for staying independent and active as we get older.

👣 If foot pain or discomfort is stopping you from enjoying your walks, we’re here to help. Our physiotherapists can assess your mobility, treat any problems, and help keep you moving comfortably this spring.

When physiotherapy happens at home, movement becomes part of everyday life, not just another appointment to fit in. By working in familiar surroundings, we can use your furniture, routines, and real-life goals to guide treatment in a way that feels natural and achievable.

Home physiotherapy is especially valuable for people living with dementia, those undergoing cancer treatment, patients recovering from surgery, and older adults who feel anxious about leaving home.

Being in a familiar environment builds confidence, comfort, and consistency, making progress more sustainable. Gentle, regular movement supports heart health, circulation, balance, and mood.

This may include simple, safe exercises such as:
• Short supported walks
• Sit-to-stand exercises using a chair
• Light stretching to ease stiffness
• Balance work at a stable surface
Small movements, done regularly, can make a big difference.

We’re published a blog to inspire you to add regular gentle movements into your day. Take a read. 👍
