Crimbo Limbo, that magical week between Christmas and New Year is the perfect time for a family walk.

But don’t leave Grandma or Grandpa at home! ❤️

Wrap everyone up warm, choose a route with a good, steady path, and head out for a gentle stroll together. Fresh air does wonders for all ages!

Got little ones? Pick a walk with a play park so the older generation can enjoy watching the fun.
And if anyone gets tired, no problem, plan a route with a coffee shop or pub stop, let them rest, and send the rest of the crew for another lap.

It’s simple, wholesome, and a lovely way to enjoy time together during the festive lull. ✨

Winter is here, and so are slippery pavements!
Did you know falls are more common during the colder months due to icy paths, wet leaves, and reduced activity levels?
The good news? A little strength and balance training can go a long way in keeping you steady and confident outdoors.
Stay safe, stay active, stay strong this winter. 💪
Need support? My Physio At Home is here to help.

What to expect on your first home physiotherapy visit.

We want your first session to be as comfortable and stress-free as possible, so here's what to expect and how to prepare:
👉 Access arrangements - Please let us know if someone will be available to open the door, or if we'll need a key safe code to enter safely
👉Don't stress about tidying - We are used to working around everyday living spaces and can adapt to most home environments
👉Wear comfortable clothing - Loose, comfortable clothes that allow easy movement will help us assess and treat you effectively
👉Stay hydrated - Have a bottle of water nearby, as you may need it during or after your session
👉Take it at your pace - Don't worry about performance or expectations; we'll go slowly and work within your comfort zone
👉Relax and enjoy - Our goal is to make physiotherapy a positive experience that you'll look forward to.

Remember, this first visit is all about getting to know you, understanding your needs, and creating a treatment plan that works for your lifestyle. We're here to support you every step of the way!

Other health benefits of physio
Beyond the physical improvements, physiotherapy offers invaluable emotional and mental benefits for older adults that often prove just as transformative.

Regular sessions provide a much-needed social connection through visits from a caring professional who not only monitors their physical progress but also serves as a friendly face who genuinely cares about their well-being.

This consistent contact helps combat isolation while giving them something positive to anticipate and discuss with family and friends.

The mental engagement required during exercises and learning new movement patterns provides an excellent cognitive workout, keeping the mind sharp and focused.

Many older adults find their confidence gradually rebuilding as they regain strength and mobility, empowering them to tackle daily activities they may have been avoiding. The physical exertion from therapeutic exercises, often leads to better sleep patterns, a welcome relief for those who struggle with restless nights.

This combination of mental stimulation, social interaction, renewed confidence and improved sleep creates a powerful cycle of wellbeing that extends far beyond the treatment room, enriching their overall quality of life and sense of independence.

We bring expert, caring physiotherapy sessions to your home, specialising in elderly care, pre- and post-op rehab and oncology.

7 essential post-op care tips for smooth recovery
Recovery after surgery doesn't have to be overwhelming. Following these seven straightforward guidelines can significantly improve your healing journey and prevent complications.

👉 Follow medical instructions: Your healthcare providers have extensive experience with post-op patients. Rest is the most commonly ignored instruction, yet it's crucial for proper healing.

👉Attend follow-up appointments: Even when feeling well, these check-ins ensure your recovery stays on track and provide opportunities to address concerns.

👉Prevent infection: Simple practices like handwashing before changing dressings and avoiding touching incisions are vital for positive outcomes.

👉Maintain proper nutrition: Despite potential appetite loss, nausea, or constipation, staying hydrated and eating healthily promotes healing and reduces complications. Don't hesitate to ask for dietary guidance.

👉Recognise warning signs: Contact your healthcare provider immediately for excessive bleeding, breathing difficulties, inability to keep food/water down, urination problems, or infection signs.

👉Manage pain effectively: Taking prescribed medication regularly keeps pain at tolerable levels, promotes better sleep, and supports the healing process. Don't let concerns about dependency prevent proper pain management.

👉Stay mobile: Gentle movement, like hourly walks around your home, prevents serious complications such as blood clots while hastening your return to normal activities. Always follow weight-bearing restrictions for leg/foot surgeries.

If you or a family member has recently had an operation and would like to get back to normal as quickly as possible, get in touch with us at My Physio at home. Don’t forget we now cover North West London, Essex and South Hertfordshire areas.

There's something truly magical about autumn in Essex. As the leaves transform into brilliant shades of amber, gold, and russet, our beautiful county becomes a living canvas that beckons families and grandparents to step outside and create precious memories together. 🍂 🍁

Gentle autumn strolls provide excellent low-impact exercise that supports joint health and cardiovascular fitness. The uneven terrain of woodland paths and park trails offers natural balance training, while the fresh air and vitamin D from autumn sunshine boost both physical and mental well-being.

Planning autumn walks that work for everyone requires a little consideration. Choose routes with good paths and places to rest.

Consider shorter loops that can be extended if everyone's feeling energetic, or abbreviated if little ones get tired. Many of the local country parks offer visitor centres with cafes, perfect for warming up with a hot drink and perhaps a slice of cake to celebrate your outdoor adventure.
Sometimes with a little effort, encouragement and expert care we can help someone find the confidence to get out and about again. Get in touch to book an appointment.
