A beautiful Lemonbalm and Lemon verbena harvest at Hawkwood last week.

I love harvesting and drying herbs it's a rich sensory experience and I think it helps you get to know the plant.

We were feeling fresh and zingy after all of the lemonyness ! 💛

Couch grass.

Here are the rhizomes of this pernicious grass that we weeded (at a safe distance to each other!) out of a community apothecary bed at the weekend.

The vast creeping network of rhizomes this plant produces are rich in minerals, potassium, silica and Vitamins A and B.

I am drying these to be drunk as a general tonic tea and to support bladder complaints.

Next time you find your self cursing the Couch next time you're weeding maybe save a little to try as a tea !

Wonderful fennel medicine added to the shelf in the hornbeam. With leaves and seeds harvested last year from the garden we have made a tincture and a glycerite to balance energies and help with digestion.
Bottles are pay what you feel along side delish surplus food from !

Hello wonderfull people of 2020!
Hope you are all well and enjoying the winter sun ☀️❄

I have not posted in a while but I am feeling positive and motivated for the year ahead 🌱

We have got exiting plans for the Community Apothecary; establishing the patchwork of growing spaces and making medicine within the community 🧴

I will continue to make on a small scale self care remedies, so watch this space for tips and recipes 💜

I will also post our progress in the apiary at OL. Last week we mulched around the hives to keep the couch grass down and to make sure there's steady slip free footing when working with, or observing the families 🐝
