Our Story
What is Sports Massage? Sports massage is a popular form of treatment for soft tissue injuries. Prevention is better than cure so a regular weekly treatment with a qualified deep tissue specialist is the best way to keep up momentum and prevent injury. Whether your an athlete or not all occupations and activities put muscles and joints under strain. If your not making time for stretches either after training or taking the recommended breaks away from the desk or seat then seeking a treatment to undo the build up of neglect is the best way to address the gradually worsening posture and creeping aches and pains.
What is Deep Tissue Massage? Deep tissue massage is similar to sports massage. It is a method of massaging that focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue. This kind of massage aims to release the chronic patterns of tension in the body through firm and slow strokes and deep pressure on the tighter areas, either going across or following the fibres of the muscles, tendons and fascia. On what part of me can I have this treatment? Pretty much any area of your body. A lot of people use it to ease shoulder pain or neck pain whilst having a back massage, but it can be used on legs, arms and so on. It may help with the following issues: Chronic muscle pain Stiffness Strains Sprains Repetitive strain injuries e.g. Carpal tunnel syndrome Break down scar tissue Sore spots Muscle tension and spasm Limited mobility Postural problems Back pain Recovery from injuries Whiplash Falls Sports injury Pain from osteoarthritis Fiobromyalgia Inflammatory pain e.g. tendinitis Stress relief and stress-related conditions Headaches and migraines What is the purpose of this massage? The purpose is to "unstick" the fibres of a muscle using deep pressure. This allows your muscles to reform correctly restoring natural balance to your body which helps to remove toxins as your body is operating more effectively again. All this whilst relaxing and soothing your muscles. It is both therapeutic and corrective.
