Q doctor was started by an NHS doctor who was concerned about the NHS falling behind with its technology. He joined an NHS England programme and set up Q doctor, which now works with hundreds of practices and hospitals nationwide, helping them to deliver clinical care over secure video.

At Q doctor, we’re encouraged by the news this week of a 90% effective COVID-19 vaccination, but know that rolling out a new vaccine is no easy feat.

Our CEO and Founder Whittle reflects on the adaptations and additional services needed across the UK’s primary care landscape to help bring the new vaccine to patients. Scheduling appointments, monitoring potential side effects, managing demand and prioritising patients are just some of the areas which need logistical management.

We believe that digital tools can help support the processes behind the COVID-19 vaccine, just as they’ve have helped enable primary care services to continue throughout the pandemic.

As we collectively aim to tackle coronavirus, we at Q doctor are encouraged by the news of a 90% effective COVID-19 vaccination. However, Health Secretary Matt Hancock’s confident declaration to “inject hope into millions of arms this winter” is a huge undertaking for primary care providers ac...

At Q doctor we’re passionate about developing our products in line with the latest guidance. That’s why our new File and Image Upload feature has been built in response to the RCGPs latest report on intimate clinical assessments undertaken remotely in response to COVID-19.

Delivering remote clinical assessments during these unprecedented times poses its own challenges and having a secure and confidential way to provide intimate or complex information, best shared through an image, is one of them. Our new feature enables convenient and secure image transfer on our platform, to better support patients and doctors to communicate remotely.

As the UK heads into another lockdown situation, what learnings from the first wave of COVID-19 can we put in place to prepare us for this second wave?

At Q doctor, we believe virtual healthcare solutions are key, especially as we approach winter and the associated illnesses that come with the colder weather.

Our CEO Dr Chris Whittle takes a deep-dive into our virtual PC offering and how this helped us to support over 300 clinicians to deliver remote patient care back in March.

“Only by working together and building on our experiences from the first wave, can we collectively tackle this second wave of the virus and minimise the impact on the lives of everyone close to us and around the country. We can all play a role, and Q doctor is here to help ensure that people still have the access to the care they need, no matter how long and tough the winter will be.”

Ahead of 💚 tomorrow, our CEO Dr Chris Whittle reflects on how we can help those in need and raise awareness.

The impact of COVID-19 including country lockdowns, social distancing and losing loved ones to the virus has created a huge rise in the number of people suffering with anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Sadly, clinical staff are not immune to the mental health impact of COVID-19 either.

We at Q doctor are working with NHS Practitioner Health and Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust to support individuals experiencing mental health illness - both patients and NHS clinicians too.

COVID-19 has caused a necessity to reconsider how patients’ needs are met. NHS England has been working with more than 10 different suppliers to extend access to video consultations for primary care. The traditional resistance to change, always mentioned as a barrier in adopting technology in healthcare, was overridden by necessity. Telemedicine has clearly proven its value. So how do we maintain the momentum?

Read the latest article from our CEO Dr Chris Whittle on this, where he talks about ways we can ensure telemedicine is here to stay and discusses challenges (or opportunities!) that need to be tackled as soon as possible.

Have we reached the “critical mass” adoption point beyond which everybody continues to use it? Let us know what you think!

Within just a few weeks, COVID-19 caused a necessity to reconsider how patients’ needs are met. Telemedicine provided convenient access to anything from routine care to COVID-19 triage, without the risk of exposure for patients and healthcare professionals.

The pandemic has been a “game changer” for the way clinicians conduct their consultations. Prior to the outbreak, 90% of GP consultations were face to face, and in the space of two months since lockdown, 90% are now done remotely.

Not only do video consultations enable HCPs to visually assess patients and facilitate total triage, digital systems also allow for additional GP capacity, which at Q doctor we're already providing to many practices, via appointments at evenings and weekend with our locum team.

Thanks to Kathy Oxtoby at Geriatric Medicine for featuring the thoughts of our founder & CEO, Dr Chris Whittle in "The rapid rise of digital consultations since Covid-19"

The pandemic has been a game changer for the way healthcare professionals conduct their clinical consultations.

We’ve launched an exciting new toolbar service with and Cognitant Group which provides a fully integrated triage, remote consultation, patient messaging and treatment information service for clinicians and their patients.

This enables doctors to remotely triage, consult and manage patients, through one integrated digital platform, for the first time.

With so many different technologies now available to doctors and patients, this platform brings together important pieces of digital consultation under one easy-to-use toolbar.

We look forward to this enabling a more personalised approach to care for patients, without increasing pressure on doctors.

Digital and remote healthcare support is desperately needed to make sure people can stay safe and help NHS services to continue delivering care. As experts in video consultations, we already support hundreds of practices nationwide and as well as 111 services, hospitals and urgent care centres, including London’s first COVID19 isolation centre at Heathrow.

Our recent collaboration with eConsult, the UK’s leading NHS online triage service means that we’re able to provide health services, clinicians and patients with a best-in-class, fully integrated, remote-access digital triage and video consultation service, which will reduce the risk from face-to-face appointments and ultimately help to keep more than 17 million people safe.

Together, we are on a mission to provide vital consultations with qualified healthcare professionals whenever and wherever people need it, in a way that truly supports the health service.

- Dr Chris Whittle, founder and CEO at Q doctor

A group of digital health suppliers have been selected by NHS England to provide digital primary care consultations as part of the health sector's response to the coronavirus pandemic.
