Lamertons is situated in the heart of Northwood at 65a Green Lane. There are pay-and-display parking meters directly outside our practice - including disabled parking bays - which offer 30 minutes’ free parking, and plenty of parking meters in nearby streets, a large car park further down Green Lane and the Waitrose store opposite also has a car park. We are within the Hillingdon First Scheme area so residents of Hillingdon with a Hillingdon First card can take advantage of reduced parking charges at the meters and car parks. Our history – Lamertons Opticians – a mainstay of the area for over 60 years
The Lamertons practice has been a fixture in Northwood since being founded by Messrs Lamertons and Stubbs in the original site of 65A Green Lane, shortly after the Second World War. During the 1960s, Mr Lamerton went on to manage the practice on his own, until Mr John Coles took ownership in 1970. In 1992, Alison Kennedy took over the reins and has been here ever since, managing the business with the help of her youngest son Richard. As Alison and Richard grew and developed the business, in 1994 they needed additional space and were able to expand by purchasing the adjoining shop, 65B, formerly ‘Hang Ups’ and before that Garners Bakery. We are delighted that some of our patients have been with us since we came here and we continue to welcome new clients from all across the region. Sixty years on, Lamertons’ renowned philosophy of patient care remains: our unstinting commitment to providing high-quality, professional eyecare as the complete, full-service opticians in Northwood. We now carry out eye tests six days a week, holding contact lens clinics on four of those days, and supply all optical needs, tailored to all budgets.
