This week, our wonderful residents spent a joyful afternoon creating beautiful handmade cards using colourful stickers, textured fabrics, ribbons, and sparkling little trinkets. Each card was completely unique – full of personality, imagination, and love.

Most importantly, creativity brings joy. It offers our residents the opportunity to make choices, explore textures, reminisce about sewing or crafting in years gone by, and feel proud of something they have made with their own hands.

The room was filled with warm ambience as fabrics were carefully chosen and finishing touches thoughtfully placed. The end results were not only beautiful keepsakes but special reminders that creativity has no age limit.

We are so proud of our talented residents and staff and love seeing their artistic flair shine through.

Our residents & staff were delighted to welcome a whole host of friendly animals this weekend; including a gentle dog, fluffy rabbits, clucking chickens and the sweetest little guinea pigs. From the moment they arrived, there was a real buzz of excitement throughout the home!

The dog was a firm favourite, happily sitting beside residents for strokes and cuddles, and even showing off a few tricks. Watching the joy on everyone’s faces as the rabbits and guinea pigs were carefully held and stroked was heartwarming. For many, it brought back fond memories of beloved family pets and life on farms, sparking lovely conversations and storytelling among residents and staff alike.

Pet therapy visits like this offer so much more than just a fun afternoon. Interacting with animals can help reduce anxiety, encourage communication, support reminiscence, and promote a wonderful sense of calm and happiness. It was clear to see the positive impact on everyone involved; there were smiles from ear to ear and plenty of requests for them to come back soon!

This week, we enjoyed a delightful trip to The Shy Horse in Leatherhead – a charming country pub steeped in history, dating all the way back to the late 19th Century. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed by the warm, traditional atmosphere that only a true English pub can offer.

The character of the building itself sparked lots of conversation – with its rustic wooden beams, cosy corners, and classic décor, it felt like stepping back in time. Many of our residents reminisced about visits to similar pubs in years gone by, sharing fond memories over drinks and laughter.

And the food certainly did not disappoint! The meals were beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. From hearty traditional favourites to lighter options, every dish was full of flavour and cooked to perfection. The roast dinners were a particular highlight – tender meats, perfectly crisp roast potatoes, fresh seasonal vegetables, and rich, comforting gravy. For dessert, we indulged in classic puddings that were simply irresistible – a sweet treat that rounded off the meal perfectly.

Beyond the wonderful food, it was the joy of being out together that made the day so special. Sitting around the table in such a historic and welcoming setting gave everyone the chance to relax, chat, and truly savour the experience. There’s something so uplifting about the atmosphere of an old traditional pub.

Love was truly in the air at Sherwood Grange this Valentine’s Day! wrapped in romance and the scent of fresh red roses. From the moment the morning began, there was a quiet sense of excitement in the air. A stunning bouquet of red roses sat proudly on a trolley, and as it made its way gently through our home, smiles began to appear before a single word was spoken.

One by one, residents and staff were surprised with a beautiful rose of their own. There were tender moments, a few happy tears, and lots of laughter as everyone paused to admire their flowers. It was a simple gesture, but it filled the corridors with warmth and kindness — a reminder that love lives in the smallest of acts.

Later, as lunchtime approached, the atmosphere shifted to something even more special. A private dining room had been transformed into a romantic retreat for our resident couples. Soft decorations, thoughtful touches, and a lovingly prepared table set the scene for quiet conversation and shared memories. Watching hands held across the table and seeing familiar smiles exchanged was truly heart-warming.

By the afternoon, the celebrations carried on with everyone gathered together. Glasses of prosecco sparkled, fresh strawberries were enjoyed, and the room buzzed with stories of Valentine’s Days gone by. There was such a sense of togetherness — not just celebrating romantic love, but friendship, companionship, and the joy of being part of the Sherwood Grange family.

Recently at Sherwood Grange, we brought a little piece of the local market back home with us

Our team enjoyed picking out a beautiful selection of fresh flowers from our local market, carefully choosing a variety of colours, textures and scents ready for a special activity with our residents.

Yesterday morning, we held a lovely flower arranging session where everyone got creative, designing their own stunning bouquets. Once complete, we placed the fresh bouquets in vases throughout our home — brightening lounges, dining areas and bedrooms with beautiful bursts of colour and the wonderful scent of fresh blooms.

A simple activity, but one that brought so much joy to our Sherwood Grange family.

Residents had a wonderful time attending our weekly arts class hosted by the talented local artist, Georgiana.

Using watercolour and acrylic paints, everyone got creative while painting their own interpretations of the planets in our solar system; canvases were filled with colour and imagination, as residents explored different techniques and expressed themselves as individuals.

We had a wonderfully sweet and sociable time at Sherwood Grange this morning as our lovely Laura, hosted a special cooking class for our residents — and what a treat it was!

Laura guided everyone through making Frappe di Carnevale, a traditional Italian carnival delicacy, filling the room with delicious aromas,. Our residents thoroughly enjoyed getting hands-on in the kitchen, rolling, shaping, and, of course, tasting their creations.

We were also delighted to be joined by Jan, a family member of one of our residents, who kindly rolled up her sleeves and helped out during the session. It was so special to have family involved, adding to the warm, community feel of the day and making the experience even more meaningful for everyone.

A huge thank you to Laura for organising such a fantastic activity, and to Jan for joining us and supporting our residents.

Yesterday, our residents enjoyed a lovely afternoon out as we took a trip out to Deen City Farm, and what a delightful experience it was from start to finish.

From the moment we arrived, residents took in the fresh air and the sights and sounds of the farm. Many enjoyed meeting the animals up close, from curious goats and fluffy sheep to cheerful chickens and pigs. For some, it sparked fond memories of growing up around animals or visiting farms in years gone by, leading to lots of wonderful conversations and shared stories throughout the afternoon.

We took our time strolling around the farm, enjoying the peaceful surroundings and the chance to slow down and appreciate nature. Residents loved watching the animals being fed, learning little facts about them, and simply enjoying the calm, relaxed atmosphere. Being outdoors and surrounded by greenery was a refreshing change and did everyone the world of good.

Of course, no trip would be complete without a well-earned rest, and we stopped to enjoy refreshments together, giving everyone the chance to sit, chat, and soak up the sunshine. We’re already looking forward to our next adventure!

Residents recently enjoyed one of our weekly creative arts session led by the wonderful Georgiana, whose warmth, passion, and talent as an artist filled the room from the moment she arrived. Georgiana has a lovely way of inspiring confidence and curiosity, gently encouraging everyone to explore their own ideas and creativity.

With Burns Night still fresh in our minds, residents designed and created their own personal tartan paper weaves, choosing colours and patterns that felt meaningful to them. It was a joy to watch each piece take shape — no two designs were the same, and each one told its own little story.

There was plenty of thoughtful conversations, and proud smiles as the finished tartans were admired. A big thank you to Georgiana for sharing her creativity and making the session so engaging and uplifting for everyone. These everyday weekly moments are what make life at Sherwood Grange so special.

A Blooming Lovely Activity at Sherwood Grange! This week we brought a little extra colour and joy into Sherwood Grange by visiting our local market to buy fresh flowers for a flower arranging activity.

Our residents had a wonderful time creating their own beautiful arrangements, enjoying the sights, chatter, and lovely scents along the way. The session was WONDERFULLY hosted by our lovely Marina, who made the morning extra special with her care and creativity.

Afterwards, all of the fresh flower arrangements were placed throughout our communal lounges so everyone in the home could enjoy their beauty and brighten the spaces.

A big thank you to our local market for the gorgeous flowers – they truly lifted spirits and added an early touch of spring to our home.

It was a wonderfully hands-on and tasty activity here at Sherwood Grange.

Our residents thoroughly enjoyed making biscotti di al b***o, a traditional Italian butter biscuit known for its rich, crumbly texture and comforting flavour. The kitchen was filled with the lovely aroma of butter and baking as everyone got involved.

With the guidance of our fantastic Laura, residents were fully engaged in every step of the process — from mixing the ingredients and shaping the dough to chatting and laughing
It was lovely to see so much concentration, teamwork, and enjoyment throughout the session.

And of course, the best part? Sitting down together afterwards to enjoy the tasty treats they helped create! A perfect blend of fun, teamwork, and homemade goodness.
