A Blooming Lovely Activity at Sherwood Grange! This week we brought a little extra colour and joy into Sherwood Grange by visiting our local market to buy fresh flowers for a flower arranging activity.

Our residents had a wonderful time creating their own beautiful arrangements, enjoying the sights, chatter, and lovely scents along the way. The session was WONDERFULLY hosted by our lovely Marina, who made the morning extra special with her care and creativity.

Afterwards, all of the fresh flower arrangements were placed throughout our communal lounges so everyone in the home could enjoy their beauty and brighten the spaces.

A big thank you to our local market for the gorgeous flowers – they truly lifted spirits and added an early touch of spring to our home.

It was a wonderfully hands-on and tasty activity here at Sherwood Grange.

Our residents thoroughly enjoyed making biscotti di al b***o, a traditional Italian butter biscuit known for its rich, crumbly texture and comforting flavour. The kitchen was filled with the lovely aroma of butter and baking as everyone got involved.

With the guidance of our fantastic Laura, residents were fully engaged in every step of the process — from mixing the ingredients and shaping the dough to chatting and laughing
It was lovely to see so much concentration, teamwork, and enjoyment throughout the session.

And of course, the best part? Sitting down together afterwards to enjoy the tasty treats they helped create! A perfect blend of fun, teamwork, and homemade goodness.

We were absolutely delighted to welcome the wonderful Rah Rah Theatre into our home for their Christmas performance, the “Jingle Bell Show”. From the moment the music started, our lounge was filled with festive cheer, laughter, and the sound of residents joining in with familiar Christmas tunes.

Our residents settled in comfortably with glasses of warming mulled wine and delicious mince pies, soaking up the cosy atmosphere while enjoying the lively, interactive performance. There were smiles all around, plenty of clapping along, and even a few happy sing-alongs as the performers brought the magic of Christmas to life.

It was a joy to see so many happy faces and to share such a special moment together as a community. Experiences like these truly capture the spirit of the season and create lasting memories for our residents.

A huge thank you to Rah Rah Theatre for such an engaging and joyful show — you helped make our Christmas celebrations extra special!

Throughout the month of December, a little bit of festive magic arrived at Sherwood Grange as mischievous little elves were hidden all around the home.

Our residents took part in an Elf Hunt, keeping their eyes peeled and exploring the home to spot the hidden elves. Every successful find was rewarded with a lovely box of chocolates — a sweet treat well earned!

It was wonderful to see so many smiles, laughter, and a touch of friendly competition as everyone joined in the fun. Activities like these are a great way to keep minds active while spreading festive cheer.

Well done to all of our brilliant elf hunters!

This week, we transformed part of Sherwood Grange into a festive grotto, and we were thrilled to welcome a very special guest… Father Christmas himself!

Santa met with residents and families one by one, sharing gold coins for those who’ve been good this year (which of course, was everyone!). He also took the time to chat about the true meaning of Christmas, the history of St. Nicholas, and even treated everyone to a few festive songs that had us all singing.

While waiting to meet Santa, residents and their families were treated to plenty of mince pies and mulled wine, lovingly served by Santa’s elves, Claffey & Laura.

But the magic didn’t stop there—Santa made sure to visit residents throughout the home, bringing festive cheer to their rooms and lounges, spreading Christmas joy to every corner of Sherwood Grange.

We hope it brought as much joy to our residents as it did to us!

This Christmas, our residents and staff at Sherwood Grange shared some really lovely moments as we visited our neighbouring care homes to sing Christmas carols together. We had such a warm welcome from the residents and teams at Tiltwood, Appleby, and Greville House, and it didn’t take long before everyone was singing along, smiling, and enjoying the moment.

What made it so special was bringing our communities together. Seeing familiar faces light up, hearing carols that brought back memories, and sharing a few laughs reminded us all how important connection is — especially at Christmas time. It felt less like a visit and more like friends coming together to celebrate the season.

Thank you to everyone who joined in and made it so memorable. From all of us at Sherwood Grange, we’re wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas filled with warmth, kindness, and togetherness

A Slice of Christmas Joy at Sherwood Grange

We’re feeling extra festive at Sherwood Grange thanks to our wonderful star baker, Laura, who created a truly beautiful Christmas cake alongside our residents. Her attentiveness, care, and dedication to making the experience special really shone through, turning cake-making into a heart-warming festive activity for everyone involved.

Our residents were delighted to indulge in the finished masterpiece — and it’s safe to say it was loved! Smiles all around, happy conversations, and plenty of festive cheer made it a moment to remember.

Moments like these reflect the genuine care and commitment our team brings every day at Sherwood Grange, and we’re so proud of Laura for creating such a wonderful festive memory for our residents.

Today, Sherwood Grange was filled with festive joy as we welcomed the wonderful students from Canbury School for a morning of Christmas carols — but the highlight of the day was a beautiful act of kindness that will stay with us for years to come.

After delighting our residents with their heartfelt singing, the students joined us in the front garden to plant a real Christmas tree, gifted to our home as a symbol of friendship and connection across generations.

This tree isn’t just for Christmas — it will grow with us, year after year, becoming a living reminder of the bond between our residents and the young people in our community. Future residents, families, and visitors will be able to enjoy it, watch it flourish, and remember the day it was planted with such care and warmth.

Seeing our residents share this moment with the students was truly heart-warming — a beautiful mix of past, present, and future coming together in one meaningful gesture.

A huge thank you to Canbury School for bringing joy, music, and a lasting gift to our home. We are deeply grateful.

With appreciation and festive cheer,
Sherwood Grange

Christmas Magic at Sherwood Grange!

What an incredible day we had at our very own Sherwood Grange Christmas Market! Our home was filled with festive spirit as residents, families, friends, and team members came together to enjoy a truly magical afternoon.

We were delighted to welcome a range of fantastic local vendors, each bringing something special to our market. From handmade crafts and Christmas decorations to delicious baked goods, personalised gifts, skincare treats, jewellery, and seasonal goodies — there was something for everyone!

Residents enjoyed browsing the stalls, chatting with the stallholders, and picking up unique treasures for their loved ones. Families joined in the fun, and the whole home was buzzing with music, laughter, and plenty of mince pies. The atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and full of festive joy.

A huge thank you to all the vendors who joined us and to everyone who came along to support the event. Your presence helped make it such a memorable day for our residents.

Wishing you all a wonderful festive season from everyone here at Sherwood Grange.

A day of remembrance and reflection at Sherwood Grange, where our residents enjoyed an enriching trip to the Imperial War Museum. Set within a former hospital, the museum offered a powerful journey through the history of modern warfare and the experiences of people affected by conflicts involving Britain and the Commonwealth from World War I to the present day.

We explored an incredible range of exhibits — from large-scale military hardware such as tanks and aircraft, to deeply moving personal artifacts and stories that shed light on both military and civilian life during times of war. The visit sparked thoughtful conversations, reflections, and a deeper appreciation of the resilience and sacrifices of those who lived through these moments in history.

We loved this day of discovery and can’t wait for our next one!

Recently, our residents spent a lovely morning at our local stables. The gentle clip-clop of hooves and the soft nuzzles from the horses brought smiles all around.

Residents enjoyed meeting some of the friendly riders and spending time in the stables, where they got to stroke the horses and learn a little about their routines and personalities. There were plenty of shared stories, laughter, and a few new favourite horses by the end of the visit!

A big thank you to the wonderful team at Stag Lodge Stables for welcoming us so warmly and making the visit so special.
