We were absolutely delighted to welcome a very special guest to Sherwood Grange recently — the incredibly talented pianist Neil Roxburgh from the Royal College of Music.

Our lounge was filled with the beautiful sound of live piano music as Neil performed a wonderful selection of pieces on our very own upright piano. Residents, relatives, and team members gathered together to enjoy the performance, creating a warm and uplifting atmosphere throughout the home.

Music has such a powerful way of bringing people together, and this event was no exception. Many of our residents were seen tapping along, smiling, and reminiscing as familiar melodies filled the room.

We are so grateful to Neil for taking the time to visit us all the way from Scotland and for sharing his remarkable talent. Experiences like this mean so much to our residents and are a wonderful reminder of the joy that live music can bring.

We are absolutely delighted to share some wonderful news with you all.... a huge congratulations to our incredible team member, Martha De Mello, who has been awarded a nominee Carer of the Year at the Care UK Stars Awards 2026!

This well-deserved recognition is a testament to Martha’s unwavering dedication, compassion, and the passion she brings to her role every single day. Yesterday morning at Sherwood Grange, we made the most of the beautiful sunshine with a refreshing group walk with our lovely residents.

We headed out to Wimbledon Common, where the fresh air and peaceful surroundings created the perfect setting for a gentle morning stroll. As we walked along, we passed the picturesque Beverley Brook stream, enjoying the sound of flowing water and the sights of nature all around us.

Our residents thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to get outdoors, stretch their legs, and take in the seasonal beauty. This is part of our weekly walking club and is as much a joy for us to organise as it is for our residents to partake in!

Easter is more than just chocolate and celebrations, it’s also an important time for connection, togetherness, and cherishing the moments that bring joy to our lives. From reminiscing about traditions to enjoying a little indulgence, our residents embraced the spirit of the season with warmth and enthusiasm, and we hope you did too!

Our annual Sherwood Easter Egg Hunt begins! To celebrate the Easter season, we organised a special Knitted Chick Hunt throughout our home and it was a huge hit with everyone involved.

Hidden in all sorts of nooks and crannies were adorable little hand-knitted chicks, each one carefully crafted and carrying a delicious chocolate egg surprise. Residents, staff, and visiting families joined in the fun, eagerly searching high and low to spot these cheerful little chicks.

The excitement was truly heartwarming to see. with staff sharing clues and stories, and getting into the competitive spirit, and families joining in with big smiles, it brought everyone together in such a lovely way.

A big thank you to Katy from RBKares for supporting to make this possible, lots of love from all of us at Sherwood ###

We hope everyone enjoyed their sweet treats and the fun of the hunt. Keep your eyes peeled… you never know what surprises might pop up next!

This Easter week at Sherwood Grange has been nothing short of magical.

We were delighted to bring a special experience to our residents by incubating chick eggs right here in our home. Over the course of the week, everyone eagerly watched and waited as the eggs began to hatch, creating moments of excitement, wonder, and joy.

Seeing the chicks emerge was a heartwarming experience that brought smiles, laughter, and plenty of conversation among our residents and team. It was a lovely opportunity to reminisce, learn something new, and share in the anticipation together.

Once our fluffy little chicks had settled, we took them around the home so that all of our residents could spend some time with them. The gentle interaction, soft chirping, and opportunity to stroke the chicks brought so much comfort and happiness. It was truly beautiful to see the connections formed in those moments.

Happy Easter from all of us at Sherwood!

We had a wonderful time here at Sherwood Grange as we welcomed our talented local artist, Georgiana, for a special Easter-themed craft session with our residents.

The afternoon was filled with creativity, laughter, and plenty of colour as everyone got involved in designing and decorating their very own personalised Easter egg decorations. From vibrant patterns to delicate details, each creation was as unique and special as the person who made it.

Georgiana guided our residents through the process with warmth and encouragement, helping to bring out their artistic flair and inspiring some fantastic designs. It was lovely to see so many smiling faces and to watch everyone take such pride in their finished pieces.

Activities like these are not only fun but also a great way to spark creativity, encourage social interaction, and celebrate the joy of the season together.

We took a morning walk through the beautiful surroundings of Richmond Park, entering via Robin Hood Gate, and were treated to some absolutely stunning scenery along the way. The crisp morning air, open green spaces, and peaceful atmosphere made for the perfect setting to relax, chat, and take in nature at its finest.

We were also delighted to be joined by a family member of one of our residents, which made the morning even more special. It was lovely to share the experience together and create meaningful moments with both residents and their loved ones.

Outings like these are a wonderful way to stay active, boost wellbeing, and strengthen connections—and yestarday was no exception.

We had the absolute pleasure of taking our lovely residents from Sherwood Grange on a delightful day trip to the beautiful Polesden Lacey and what a memorable day it was.

Nestled in the Surrey Hills, Polesden Lacey is a stunning Edwardian estate, renowned for its elegant house, breathtaking gardens, and sweeping countryside views. Once the home of the glamorous socialite Mrs. Greville, the estate became a hub for high society in the early 20th century. It even hosted members of the royal family including King George VI and Queen Elizabeth during their honeymoon in 1923 adding a truly special historical significance to the site.

Our residents thoroughly enjoyed exploring the grounds, the gardens were a particular highlight, offering a peaceful setting for gentle strolls and moments to relax in nature. Inside the house, we stepped back in time as we admired the beautiful interiors and fascinating collections, sparking conversations among our residents.

Of course, no trip would be complete without some refreshments! We enjoyed a lovely break with coffee and treats, giving everyone the chance to recharge and soak in the surroundings.
