I’ve been quiet here recently, because, as I’m sure you all are, I’m watching the news in disbelief. Totally shocked by the atrocious actions of one person’s ego on innocent lives. I never talk about politics, to be honest it’s not my forte and I don’t believe in sharing without fully knowing or understanding. However, this is a crime against humanity, and it’s not ok to be silent.
I’ve also been struggling. Really struggling with feelings of terror and panic. Thinking how grateful and lucky I am to wake without fear. That my life, my family, my friends are not in danger. That my brother and husband are not fighting a war they are not prepared for. That our home has not been abandoned, and we’re not sheltering for our lives, with the sickening unknown looming over us.

Let’s be very clear, this is not about me!

The shoe could very easily be on the other foot. The mixture of reality is very hard to shake and I’m constantly thinking about anyone involved.
Words on this page seem meaningless. It also seems so futile and insensitive posting as ‘normal’ when something so so much bigger is going on. There will be a time I do, but that doesn’t mean my constant thoughts aren’t with the petrified people in Ukraine, those who have fled and the families torn apart all watching and listening out for news.

Last week you may have seen we took a little trip back to Osea. For those of you who’ve been following me since lockdown, you may remember this backdrop.
Every night at 6pm you tuned in to my live Pilates class. Sometimes we had guest appearances, most of the time though it was me and Kobe, keeping you motivated and moving.

I have such fond memories of these lives. They kept me sane, totally changed my body, reminded me how incredible the mat work can be and gave me the opportunity to connect with so many of you across the world.

So just a little shout out and appreciation throwback to those times. They were a total rollercoaster but there was some real joy from the connection and the community we built.

Love you guys 🙏🥰

A new idea I’ve had for a Friday afternoon is to introduce Friday Feels ✨!
Where you guys get to ask me your burning questions about Pilates. These can be queries on exercises you don’t quite understand, personal experiences and how I can help, questions about my membership, classes, sessions or workshops. There is no wrong answer and for me its about sharing and educating - so ask away!

This week we have a fab one from one of the workshop attendees.
She asked ‘Given the v close mind-body connection, do you have any tips on dealing with the mental side of back injuries / when you get niggles?’

I LOVED answering this question as I could go down many avenues to answer it. Do watch this video for the full answer, but in brief:

1️⃣ PREVENTION RATHER THAN CURE (ALWAYS)
If we are supporting and maintaining our body we can manage and sometimes prevent these flare-ups from happening. For anyone with an injury, once it’s ‘fixed’ and goes off your radar, this is dangerous territory. Injuries will never go away, they are your Achilles heel and will pop up when you least want them to. This can be from stress from lack of maintenance, but if you keep up your ‘insurance’ exercises, chances are this will happen less than you think.

2️⃣ NIGGLES
They are here as warning signs for your body. Don’t ignore them, listen to them and pay attention to what they are saying to you. Chances are you will catch yourself before you go past the point of little return. Know that when these appear you need to do X, Y and Z to get you back on track. This stops you going down that rabbit hole and spiralling.

3️⃣ BREATHE
We are all human, things happen. Don’t beat yourself up for a little relapse if it does happen. Use it as a learning opportunity and an experience to teach you something about your body you didn’t know. Be kind to yourself. It’s also very likely your body is telling you to slow down - so listen to your body!

For me these warning signs come when I haven’t been doing Pilates and my body is very stressed. Pilates is 100% my insurance Policy and without it I can very easily find myself sliding down that spiral.

Happy Weekend everyone

Ok, so I’m really on a high after today. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Lifebody, is just me. I manage all aspects of the business and I adore it, but it does mean I find it really hard to turn off, particularly when I’m away. If we go anywhere I’m always sneaking a look at emails, checking on clients and monitoring the membership. Having not been away from a very long time, this recent holiday (where I was meant to be relaxing with my new husband) I found it even more challenging. This absolutely is not a sob story, I know how fortunate I was to get away and grab some much needed, rare sunshine and I am SO thankful for that. But that doesn’t mean I was able to put the thoughts about my business on hold, my brain just doesn’t work like that. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’ve got back to the biggest inbox, new members signing up and new client calls and I am absolutely buzzing. People are loving the membership, particularly the new collection that I'm releasing each month and I can see the changes in their bodies. I want to give another shout out (take a look at my stories for my other one) to one of my members Pamela. She’s am absolute dreamboat and has been following the collection religiously. She was on my Monday Zoom class and WOW her body has changed. I was watching her thinking what the hell has she done because she looks amazing. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In her words 'Give me a programme and I’ll follow it as much as possible, so much easier for me than trying to decide one on to do!!” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So hats off to her because honestly I nearly didn’t recognise her. I need not have worried about going away, in fact if you all look like that when I return, I should go away more often! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Give me a little wave or shout out if you’re a member and have been following along. This is a little reminder to be more Pamela and roll out that mat because my gosh does this Pilates magic work! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Back to work today after a lovely time away. Alarm went off at 6:30am and wow that was a shock to the system. Couldn't work out where I was for a moment as the sound of waves hitting the beach was replaced by snores from Kobe and Oli! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Jumping down onto my mat it was wonderful to see the smiling faces from my Zoom class back at me, all eager to get moving after a few weeks break. We went slowly but gosh did it feel delicious to move again (don't just take it from me they all felt it too). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Monday is my busiest day, I have back to back clients until lunchtime and then this afternoon, finishing up just now. I've been thinking about their 2022 goals whilst away and so it's very exciting to get working on these today. As you can see from my stories, there is no hiding, we work hard but of course we also have fun. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
For my lovely members, I'm very excited for all the new things I have in store for you. From the new features and updates to the extra support I'm adding, I'm really pleased with all the love that has gone into making it the best membership for this year. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And of course to all my new and recent followers - hello and welcome. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I share snippets of my life, my teaching and I welcome you as part of the family. Which means I adore receiving your questions, photos and staying updated with your Pilates journey. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Found some willing participants this morning for a Pilates class. Spot the keen husband at the front 🥰😂.

I’ve taught in some stunning locations but this one really is up there.

The little secluded deck is hidden amongst some towering palm trees, overlooking the calm blue sea and stunning neighbouring islands. Scroll across to take a look.

Could be an idea for a future retreat, who’s with me?!

Whilst I’m away, I’m focusing on some much needed R&R. The past 7 month truly have been a 🎢. A wonderful one, but one that’s reminded me how important focusing on our bodies and minds really is. We know by now that the only control we have is on our health and it’s so important now more than ever to be cherishing and nurturing this.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This months membership theme is the Lower Back. It's been one of my favourite months to film because it's so personal to me. Pilates came into my life aged 15, when I suffered from a slipped disk. I was young, completely wonky, extremely scared, and my life was totally put on hold.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I realised at the time how incredible Pilates was. How it teaches you about your body, how to move, how to strengthen it and how to keep yourself free from pain. And so began my Pilates journey and my mission to share how magical it is.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What is important to me is feeling good. Feeling mobile, strong and able to manage my back and look out for those warning signs.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Each day this month I'm taking members through different workouts to help them improve their lower backs and I'm really looking forward to hearing how they get on.
If you're not part of the membership and this sounds right up your spine, I have saved the collection to be used at any time.
We have a 10 day free trail on all plans. Just head to the link in my bio to find out more.
