IT’S OUR BIRTHDAY 🎈

Five years ago today we opened this beautiful studio. What a beautiful five years it has truly been!

Friendships made, deep and meaningful conversations, laughter, food, retreats. There is so much more to come 🙏🏼

I am full of deep gratitude for every person who has walked through the door, teachers who have led classes, coffees drunk, handstands tried. What a journey 🎉

As we start to prepare for darker nights and shorter days we invite you to come down to the studio and nurture your body and mind.

It’s always more difficult to find the energy to exercise during these months. Our natural instinct is to begin the process of hibernation.

Today is ❤️ and movement and community is proven to improve our emotional wellbeing.

Today is a gentle reminder of how powerful simple things can be. A deep breath, a shared smile, a moment of stillness, a class that reconnects you to your body and your breath. We can get out of our heads, where the internal dialogue can be so loud, and into our bodies.

Movement and community remind us that we’re not alone. They anchor us, lift our mood, and bring us back to ourselves, one inhale, one exhale at a time.

🫁 Your breath isn’t just for slowing down, it’s also what moves you forward 🧠

There’s a lot of talk right now about the parasympathetic nervous system, the part that helps us rest and recover, slows the heart rate, calms anxiety, and brings us back to ourselves.

But what we don’t talk about enough is the sympathetic nervous system, the part that helps us get things done. That gets us out the door, into action, and through the hard conversations. It’s the system that turns ideas into reality.
Yes, we need rest but we can’t rest forever.
The goal isn’t to shut everything down.
The goal is to move between states and to know when to pause and when to act, and to feel robust in both.

So the question becomes:
How do we move from stress or freeze into focused action?
How do we take all that nervous energy and actually use it?

That’s what we worked with during our Restore & Reset session.
Not just breath for calming but breath for clarity, for forward motion, for doing what needs to be done.

🔹 Three-Part Breath opened space in the body so we could feel fully.

🔹 Honey Bee Breath softened reactivity, so our minds could hear something other than urgency.

🔹 Left vs Right Nostril Breathing? What’s the Difference?

🌀 Left nostril breathing activates the parasympathetic nervous system.
It’s the side we use to slow down, to lessen anxiety, reduce heart rate, and shift into rest-and-digest.
Great for:
– Evenings
– Sleep prep
– Emotional overwhelm
– Calming a racing mind

🔥 Right nostril breathing activates the sympathetic nervous system.
It’s the side that energises, sharpens focus, boosts alertness, and increases circulation.
Great for:
– Mornings
– Getting out of a freeze state
– Preparing for meetings or movement
– Shifting from stuck to switched on

🧠 Both together? Alternate nostril breathing (Nadi Shodhana) balances both sides, supporting clarity, calm, and coherence.
