Based in Southwark, we offer a women-only gym, venue hire & licensed café. Everything we do support
The Bridge is a charity aiming to make a difference to the lives of women living or working in London. We work to improve the health and well-being of women by supporting them to make positive life choices. Our fitness facilities (Gym @ The Bridge) are women only but our licensed café and meeting rooms are open to all.

Nearly 100 years on and we’re still having this conversation.
Yesterday, at the launch of the Renewed Women’s Health Strategy, reflected on The Bridge’s long history supporting women’s health.
It’s something we’re proud of. But also something that raises a bigger question: why is this still needed?
Until women’s voices are consistently heard and their health needs fully met, spaces like The Bridge matter.

We were proud to host the launch of the Renewed Women’s Health Strategy for England here at The Bridge yesterday.
It was a privilege to welcome , Baroness Merron, Professor Dame Lesley Regan (Women’s Health Ambassador), and so many organisations working to improve women’s health across the country.
This strategy is clear on one thing: the system hasn’t been working for women. Too many have been ignored, dismissed, or left without the care they need.
At The Bridge, this is what we see every day and why our work matters.
We know that:
- women’s voices need to be heard and believed
- health is shaped by community, connection and lived experience
- spaces that are welcoming, inclusive and co-created can change outcomes
We’re encouraged to see a stronger focus on listening to women, improving access, and shifting care closer to communities, all things we know make a real difference. But strategies are only as powerful as the change they create. We’re excited to play our part in making that change real.

Tuesday evening at The Bridge 🤍
We came together for Mind x Movement: Perimenopause & Mental Wellbeing with Aditi an open, honest conversation about a phase of life that so many experience, yet so few feel truly prepared for.
We explored what’s really happening in the body and nervous system, the shifts that can show up (from anxiety and disrupted sleep to changes in energy and confidence), and how it can feel to navigate it all in real life.
Through gentle movement and breathwork, we were reminded that this isn’t a time to push harder, but a time to slow down, listen, and move in a way that supports where we are.
There was space to reflect, to share, and to realise we’re not alone in this 🤍
Thank you to everyone who joined us and made it such a supportive, grounded evening ✨

It’s Stress Awareness Month 💭
Our health & wellbeing trainer Lily reminds us that sometimes the most important thing we can do is slow down. Life gets busy, and it’s easy to stay in go-mode without ever checking in with ourselves.
Take a moment today to pause and ask yourself how are you really feeling? What do you need right now?
Whether it’s moving your body, getting some fresh air, or simply taking a few deep breaths, small actions can make a big difference. Looking after your mind and body isn’t a luxury, it’s essential 🤍
Be kind to yourself you deserve it.

Good food, open tables, and even better company 🌱✨
There’s something special about sharing a meal where everyone is welcome where the food is made with care, the ingredients are kind to the planet, and the atmosphere feels like home.
A vibrant, plant-based menu filled with seasonal fermented & pickled veg, beetroot hummus, quinoa, golden potato placki, and a rich chocolate cheesecake to finish
Beautifully brought to life by Varsha, Yixin & Joanna cooking with creativity, intention, and so much heart 💚
Because food isn’t just about what’s on the plate it’s about the people around the table.

We were proud to celebrate International Women’s Day with the Bankside Women’s Network at a special breakfast event exploring how key life transitions shape women’s physical and mental wellbeing. 🌸
From puberty to pregnancy, perimenopause to menopause and beyond, the conversation highlighted how these pivotal stages impact women’s health and why understanding them is essential to building more supportive workplaces and communities.
A huge thank you to our inspiring speakers from The Bridge who shared their expertise, guidance, and lived experience supporting women across many stages of life: Nitu Pasricha, Aditi Kausiva, and Louise Mensah. Their insights reminded us of the importance of accessible knowledge, movement, nutrition, and holistic wellbeing in empowering women to make informed life choices.
We were also grateful to Dede, who guided attendees through a short meditation session, offering a moment of calm and reflection during the morning. 🧘♀️
In line with this year’s International Women’s Day theme, “Give to Gain,” the event also spotlighted the incredible charities across Bankside that work every day to support women and girls to thrive.
Thank you to everyone who joined us to learn, connect, and champion women’s health and wellbeing together. 💜

Social media is full of advice and a lot of it contradicts itself.
One post tells you one thing, the next says the complete opposite… when it comes to health and wellbeing, not everything online is reliable. It’s important to be thoughtful about where advice is coming from and to trust qualified sources. Not everything online is reliable, especially when it comes to your health and wellbeing.
Stay curious, ask questions, and be mindful of who you’re taking advice from 💛

The Bridge's can be traced back to the 1920s when a group of radical, outward looking women set out to form an organisation with the aim of promoting the intellectual, physical, spiritual, moral and social interests and needs of its members. Today, we are more than just a charity and much of what we do is driven by those founding principles.
