🚨 Regulation Update!

We welcome the latest announcement from the DHSC to strengthen safety regulations around non-surgical cosmetic procedures.

From tighter licensing for Botulinum Toxin and dermal fillers to ensuring high-risk treatments like BBLs are only carried out by qualified healthcare professionals, this is a long-overdue move to protect patients and restore trust in our industry.

At Derma Medical, we’ve always championed the highest standards in aesthetic training and patient safety. For years, we’ve advocated for proper regulation, ensuring that treatments with the potential for harm are only performed by suitably qualified and well-trained medical professionals.

This is a huge step forward for medical aesthetics and for the thousands of practitioners who have invested in doing things the right way.

🚨 New NMC Regulations – What This Means for Aesthetic Practitioners

From 1st June 2025, the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) will ban remote prescribing for non-surgical cosmetic medicines.

This means:
📵 No video consultations
📵 No phone consultations
✅ Face-to-face consultations are mandatory before prescribing any cosmetic treatments – including anti-wrinkle injections and emergency medications.

This change is a major step forward in improving patient safety and reinforcing professional standards across the aesthetics industry.

💬 It’s now vital that all prescribers:
• Conduct in-person assessments
• Maintain clinical oversight at all times
• Ensure treatments are performed by qualified professionals in appropriate clinical settings
We understand this raises questions, particularly for non-prescribers and those using emergency kits. More guidance will follow to help you navigate the changes.

Together, we can continue driving up standards in aesthetics.
