Lots of people think campaigning has to stop on polling day, but that's not true. Find out what is and isn't allowed so you know what to expect tomorrow. 👇

Campaigning on polling day is allowed. This includes posts on social media, leaflets through your door, door knocking, and houses near polling stations displaying posters or banners.

Campaigning inside a polling station is not allowed. There shouldn't be any campaign material (e.g. candidate or party posters) inside the polling station.

'Tellers' being outside the polling station asking to see your poll card number is allowed. Tellers are people who work for candidates to check who has voted, so that they can remind people who haven't to do so. You don't have to give them any info if you don't want to.

Intimidating or aggressive campaigning near polling stations is not allowed. Campaigners or candidates must not campaign near polling stations in a way that could be seen as aggressive or intimidating (for example, large groups of supporters carrying banners, or vehicles with loudspeakers or heavily branded with campaign material).

TV or radio coverage of election issues is not allowed while polling stations are open (7am - 10pm). Broadcasters on TV and radio must not discuss or analyse election issues once polling stations have opened, up until 10pm when voting finishes.

Mae llawer o bobl yn meddwl bod yn rhaid i ymgyrchu ddod i ben ar y diwrnod pleidleisio, ond dyw hynny ddim yn wir. Dysgwch beth a ganiateir a beth nas caniateir er mwyn i chi wybod beth i’w ddisgwyl yfory. 👇

Caniateir ymgyrchu ar y diwrnod pleidleisio. Mae hyn yn cynnwys postiadau ar y cyfryngau cymdeithasol, taflenni drwy eich drws, cnocio ar eich drws a thai ger gorsafoedd pleidleisio yn arddangos posteri neu faneri.

Ni chaniateir ymgyrchu tu mewn i orsaf bleidleisio. Ni ddylai fod unrhyw ddeunydd ymgyrchu (e.e. posteri ymgeisydd neu blaid) y tu mewn i orsaf bleidleisio.

Caniateir ‘rhifwyr’ y tu allan i orsaf pleidleisio yn gofyn am gael gweld rhif eich cerdyn pleidleisio. Pobl sy’n gweithio ar ran ymgeiswyr yw rhifwyr - maen nhw’n gwirio pwy sydd wedi pleidleisio er mwyn iddynt allu atgoffa pobl sydd heb bleidleisio i wneud hynny. Nid oes rhaid i chi roi unrhyw wybodaeth iddynt os nad ydych am wneud hynny.

Ni chaniateir ymgyrchu bygythiol neu ymosodol ger gorsafoedd pleidleisio. Rhaid i ymgyrchwyr neu ymgeiswyr beidio ag ymgyrchu ger gorsafoedd pleidleisio mewn ffordd a allai gael ei hystyried yn ymosodol neu'n fygythiol (er enghraifft, grwpiau mawr o gefnogwyr yn cario baneri, neu gerbydau ag uchelseinyddion neu sydd wedi'u brandio'n drwm â deunydd ymgyrchu).

Ni chaniateir sylw o faterion etholiadol ar y teledu neu’r radio tra bod gorsafoedd pleidleisio ar agor (7am - 10pm). Rhaid i ddarlledwyr ar y teledu a’r radio beidio â thrafod na dadansoddi materion etholiadol unwaith y bydd y gorsafoedd pleidleisio wedi agor, hyd at 10pm pan ddaw’r pleidleisio i ben.

Elections are taking place this Thursday 7 May in Wales, Scotland and parts of England including all London boroughs. Here’s what you need to know. 👇

If you’re voting in England, don’t forget to bring photo ID. You won’t be able to vote without it.

Don’t worry if your ID is out of date. You can use it if it still looks like you and the name is the same as the one you used when you registered to vote.

If you’re voting in Wales or Scotland, you don’t need ID for the elections on 7 May. Just turn up at your polling station with your name and address.

Find your polling station. It might have changed since the last time you voted. Head to our website and use our election information service to see where you need to go to vote.

Find out who your candidates are. Our election information service will tell you which parties and candidates are standing in your area.

Polling stations will be open from 7am - 10pm. Plan when you’ll go to vote. If you’re in the queue at 10pm you will be allowed to vote.

You don’t need your poll card to vote. Contact your local council if you haven’t received your poll card and you’re not sure if you’re registered to vote. You can find their contact details using our 'get help with your vote’ service.

Acting as a proxy for someone? You’ll need to go to their polling station to cast their vote. You’ll also need to bring your own photo ID if you’re acting as a proxy in the English local elections. You do not need ID for the Welsh Senedd or Scottish Parliament elections.

England only:

Lost your photo ID? You can apply for an emergency proxy until 5pm on polling day. For the English elections, your proxy will need to take their own ID to cast your vote.

Applied for free voter ID and it hasn’t arrived? Contact your local council as soon as possible. You can find their details using our 'get help with your vote' service.

Flexible voting pilot. If you’re voting in Milton Keynes, you don’t have to vote at your designated polling station. You can vote at the voting hub at Midsummer Place if it’s more convenient for you.
