This month - we were 'whisked' away to the Devonshire Lyons Tea Room where we had an 'Eggcelent' time baking cakes! After ground-'baking' achievements - Larry wowed us with his mixing ability, before joking: 'I should do this more often'.

With all the ingredients for joy - Janet 'buttered us up' in more ways than one as she laid the foundations for tasty treats, before cheekily saying: 'Someone's got to do the preparation'. George (helping Larry) said: 'This is teamwork' - before taking on a solo effort with a grin as wide as his cooking skills!

Marie (in her own words) 'got stuck in' - as she went on to say: 'I should hope this comes out rather good' & Cathy quipped: 'This has been a good old day!'. We had a wholesome afternoon spent amongst friends & our care team.

Bouncing with fun-filled action this July - Wimbledon Tennis created ‘love’ in more ways than one in the 'Centre Court' of our lounge as we felt like winners during a racket load of wholesome activities. Partaking in doubles - Annette & Marie rallied together, as the latter playfully asked: ‘Am I keeping the trophy?!’

From the ‘advantages’ of friendly competition to teamwork - Mildred mastered her craft as she covered all angles to ace her themed drawing. Crowd pleased & at ease - Cathy (during doll therapy) - met her match before saying 'good game' & Alfredo revelled in the spotlight of our grand slam event. Topped with champion load of strawberries & cream with our care team - we closed out play after a fabulous day!

Everyday is special, come and see why...

Valerie (who loves spending time flower arranging) blossomed once more in our Day Centre during activities. Irene shared a joyful moment about her husband. Alfredo greeted a staff member by saying: 'Oh, what a beautiful surprise' and Florence complimented the Devonshire Lyons Tea Room, quipping: 'Oh, how magnificent'.

Singing for joy – let’s give a big hand to the Big Heart Band. Last month - Jackie & Alistair had a great time, with the former ‘raising the roof’ with delightful expression & the latter saying: ‘I love the dog!’. Afternoon tea poured with sentiment as we shared stories over a good old cuppa, as well as sweet & savoury treats. On a bright Friday afternoon - the sun shone across our gorgeous gardens as our annual Residents BBQ got into full swing! An air of enthusiasm filtered across a morning of magic as Larry insisted: “I had to help when I saw Balloons!”

A cherished tradition that brought people together - echoes of excitement ignited as Christine said: “It’s a great day for it”. Adorned with bunting, our heart-warming setup transformed into a ‘pumped’ atmosphere as our professional singer Ray took centre stage to ‘Take it away!'

Our BBQ- crew were on hand for ‘flipping’ great fun as we loaded up on burgers in a toasted warm bun. The grill sizzled as much as conversation & community spirit as Cathy said: ‘I’d come back to this!’ and Janet was so pleased to greet everyone!

As Ray's renditions of popular songs chimed amongst a backdrop of community life - we were joined by a granddaughter, son, husband or wife as (content amongst friendships) George & Florence flourished, with the latter opting for a colourful hat which reflected vibrant surroundings.

More than a meal - we formed a line towards the bar & grill as we catered to everyone’s needs with family feel. We would like to thank everyone for their dedication as generations were bridged, foundations were laid & wholesome memories were made!

On Tuesday 20th May - we held a FREE Open Day in our Day Centre during Dementia Action Week. Joined by a guest who kindly offered to play the keyboard, Neville played all the right keys to put us at ease as Gregory sung along to ‘What a wonderful world’ before joking: ‘I suppose it’s a reasonably decent world’.

Neville said: ‘I was nervous about playing but your Residents made me feel more confident as they knew every song” & Del was visibly wowed by notes of nostalgia as he requested ‘One more!’. Visited by her daughter, Christine said: ‘Truly Wonderful’ during a moment of magic. After calls for afternoon tea - we ‘jammed’ in the Lyons Tea Room & spread out for wholesome interactions as we reflected on days ‘scone’ by with sweet & savoury treats.
