UCL Fight the Fakes

UCL Fight the Fakes UCL Fight the Fakes is a student-led initiative with the aim to raise awareness about SSFFCs (substandard/spurious/falsely-labelled/falsified/counterfeit).

We hope to highlight this serious problem and push this issue to the top of the social healthcare agenda. We share the belief that coordination among all actors involved in the manufacturing and distribution of medicines is vital to tackle this public health threat. We are a partner organisation of Fight the Fakes, an international global campaign based in Geneva Switzerland, working to speak up a

nd help spread the word about the dangers of fake and counterfeit medicines. To learn more about this campaign, please visit www.fightthefakes.org to read the stories of those who are impacted by fake medicines and are speaking up.

UCL Fight the Fakes team takes on the UK House of Commons 🇬🇧 for the “Safeguarding Health” 💉Parliamentary Event hosted by MP Carolyn Harris & Eli Lilly and Company UK. Our partners came together with leaders in health care, politics, tech & media to call on the Labour Government to hold social media companies that platform sellers of falsified medical products accountable. Our call to action is simple - Prosecute to protect patient safety.

Together we are working to reform outdated medicines legislation & build a safer future for patients in the UK and around the world. Thank you to the MHRA, Eli Lilly and the Patients Association, who amplified our call to and bring together new partnerships.

Our student leaders & PharmAlliance colleagues took part in the roundtable discussions with Eli Lilly representatives and Patients Association about how we can leverage cross-sector alliances to strengthen the to prevent, detect, respond model in real time.

Join UCL Fight the Fakes to act as a bridge - between education, research and public outreach - we aim to demystify the regulatory pipeline and “go where the patients are.”
