Yoga is the oldest system of personal development in the world, formulated by ancient yogis to balance the body, mind and spirit. The world's most widely practised method of Yoga is that taught by BKS Iyengar who taught yoga for over 80 years. He wrote many classic textbooks on yoga including Light on Yoga. Iyengar Yoga is a demanding discipline which lays emphasis on precision and alignment of the body, flexibility is not needed to practice it. Iyengar Yoga is open to all, regardless of age, physical and mental ability. Yoga practice relaxes and energizes the body and mind and brings vitality, flexibility, strength concentration and mental calm. Practicing yoga helps overcome and prevent stress, strains, aches and pains and promotes health and well being. I am an experienced, qualified and certified Iyengar Yoga teacher and an advanced Iyengar Yoga practitioner. I have attended many Iyengar Yoga conventions and workshops with the Iyengar family as well as visiting Senior Indian and International Iyengar teachers. I continue to train with Iyengar teachers of the highest calibre. I am experienced in teaching mixed ability classes in a clear, precise and compassionate manner, tailoring classes to students' abilities.

B.K.S. Iyengar was really a pioneer.

One if his main contributions was making yoga accessible, approachable for anyone. He felt that yoga was for everybody. No matter what the challenges — physical challenges, mental challenges or age — he didn’t see any limitation.

The degree of attention he gave to the practices of asana, or postural yoga, and to pranayama, the breathing exercises, was immense. He was also an amazing communicator. He was constantly finding new ways to help his students increase their capacity to be aware of what was going on in their bodies and minds.
