Dr Syed Ahsan, an award-winning Cardiologist and Heart Rhythm Specialist, leads the London Heart Clinic. 👨‍⚕️

Dr Ahsan sees and treats many different heart conditions, such as postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS), heart failure and cardiac arrhythmias. 💓

What are the top treatment options for irregular heartbeats? 🤔

Dr Ahsan shares that we need to assess your stroke risk and may prescribe medications to control your heart rate and rhythm.

He also discusses the ablation procedure, which involves intentionally creating small scars to prevent abnormal heart rhythms.

Other procedures you may need with an arrhythmia include cardioversion and inserting a pacemaker or an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD).

Do you know your risk of arrhythmia (an abnormal heart rhythm)? ⚠️

Your arrhythmia risk increases as you age. Certain conditions increase your risk further.

These include:
💙 Thyroid disease
💙 High blood pressure
💙 Iron deficiency anaemia
💙 An electrolyte imbalance
💙 Obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA)
