I’m back teaching today, feeling so grateful for the power of a proper reset.

This recent illness was a tough reminder to listen to my own advice, but I’m so happy to be back with my community. Recovering from illness (and my history with Long Covid) has taught me that yoga isn’t about being perfect or pushing through —it’s about acceptance and meeting your body exactly where it is today.

Whether you’re recovering from a bug or just a busy week, my classes are a space to find your groundedness again.

✨ Join me this week:
Tuesday - Yoga Flow (19.15) and Yin (20.15)
Wednesday & Friday - Grounded and Guided (09.15)
Thursday - Yoga for Cyclists (19.30).

Find booking link in bio. I can’t wait to see you there x

Have you ever struggled to actually listen when your body says “stop”?

I had to make the tough call to cancel my yoga classes last night and this morning. I so rarely cancel, even when I’m feeling under the weather. Part of it is the reality of being self-employed—there is no sick pay. And part of it is knowing that being with my community usually makes me feel better, at least mentally!

But this flu I have is a reminder that some things can’t be pushed through. If my journey with Long Covid taught me anything, it’s the power of acceptance. I can’t change the fact that I’m ill, and I know that fighting it now only delays the healing I need to be back teaching on Tuesday.

This is where the “real” yoga happens. It’s a reminder that our practice isn’t just about how we move on the mat—it’s about how we respond to ourselves off the mat. Sometimes, the most “advanced” practice isn’t physical one; it’s mental. I often remind my students in class, to listen to their bodies and adapt or take support/rest when needed. I am doing the same and giving myself permission to rest without the guilt today and all weekend.

To my students: thank you for your patience and grace. I hope to see you back in class on Tuesday x

✨ If you needed a sign to slow down today, let this be it.

Looking for a space to reset, reconnect, and find true groundedness?

Yesterday’s workshop was a beautiful reminder of why I started Yoga with Gait. After my experience with Long Covid, I learned that yoga isn’t just about the physical poses—it’s a powerful way to train our nervous systems to find ease in a busy world.

We spent the day stepping away from the “hustle” to give ourselves the time and space to just... be.

What we practiced:
* Cultivating a “way of being” on the mat to use off the mat.
* Listening to our bodies without the need for “perfection.”
* Mindful movement that leaves you feeling regulated and calm.

✨ Coming up in February:
If you missed this one, I’m hosting a special Couples yoga workshop next month. It’s a chance for you and a partner to connect and extend your valentine’s celebrations with a fun and unique yoga experience — no “yoga skills” required.

Ready to physically let go of last year? 👐✨

My yoga classes have resumed for the New Year, and I wanted to share a special practice we are doing this week.

This week, we are using Ksepana Mudra—the sacred hand gesture for pouring out and letting go. It’s a powerful somatic practice to physically embody releasing what no longer serves us, making space for an open heart.

The sequence (repeat 3 times):
1️⃣ Hands to Heart: “I honor what has been.”
2️⃣ Pointing to Earth: “I release what no longer serves me.”
3️⃣ Hands to Third Eye: “I move forward with awareness and trust.”

📌 SAVE THIS POST so you have this tool handy whenever you need to ground your energy and refocus during the day.

If you’re local, join me in class this week as we weave this intention into our flow!

✨ Curious about what happens inside a Yoga & Assist Workshop?

I’ve had a few questions about what we’ll actually be doing this Sunday, Jan 11th, so I wanted to pull back the curtain on our 2-hour journey together.

This isn’t just a yoga class—it’s a workshop on the art of connection, presence, and the healing power of touch. Here is how we’ll spend our time:

THE ARRIVAL: We begin with some settling in, to arrive in mind and body. We’ll include a Metta (loving-kindness) meditation to soften the heart and set the tone ahead of our practice.

WARM UP: We’ll move through a gentle warm-up to prepare the body. We’ll also incorporate some self-massage, as to be a good “giver,” you first have to understand how touch feels in your own body.

PILLARS OF ASSIST: I’ll give you foundational tips that will help ensure the best support to yourself as well as your partner when giving assists. The aim is that everyone feels safe and held in their practice.

THE PRACTICE: We’ll move through some guided sequences—learning how to provide grounding assists and gentle stretches for one another.

THE CLOSE: We finish with a 10-minute Savasana where you get to let go of any more doing, absorb the effects of your practice and just focus on receiving grounding assists from me.

WHO IS THIS FOR?
Anyone! No yoga experience required. You can come with a partner, a friend, or on your own to be paired with a new friend. Whether you are a total beginner or a regular yogi, you’ll leave feeling lighter, taller, and deeply relaxed.

🗓 When: Sunday 11th Jan 2026
📍 Where: Long Ashton Community Centre

Why I’m not setting resolutions for the new year... 🌿

We often approach the New Year with a list of things to “fix.” But yoga isn’t about improvement, it’s a practice of acceptance. It’s about meeting yourself on the mat exactly as you are today, not as you wish you were.

In my classes, we work with the concept of Sankalpa. A Sankalpa isn’t a goal or a resolution. It’s a recognition of your innate nature. It’s a practice of aligning your conscious desires with your subconscious mind. When we set a Sankalpa, we aren’t just saying what we want; we are cultivating a specific mindset that begins to filter through our entire lives.

It shapes our thoughts, our feelings, and our actions before we even step off the mat.
By peeling back the layers of “shoulds” and self-doubt, we find a truth that is already there. This is why we always state our Sankalpa in the present tense:

✨ “I am grounded.”
✨ “I am capable.”
✨ “I am enough.”

When you speak it as a present truth, your subconscious begins to believe it. You stop chasing a future version of yourself and start living as your true self right now.

Ready to plant your own seeds of intention?

Come and explore this shift with me this month. Let’s move, breathe, and align.

🗓 Join me:
• Weekly Classes: Tuesday and Thursday evenings in Long Ashton
• Assisted Stretch & Massage Workshop: Sunday 11th Jan 2026. The perfect space to ground yourself and integrate your Sankalpa.

Taking a pause 🤍

Classes are on hold for the Christmas break. We resume again in the New Year, with first class on 6th January 2026. I will also be taking a break from social media to spend some proper quality time with family and to be fully present.

As I step into this typically busy and hectic season, I will be reminding myself to pause and take breath every now and then, and find joy in the present moment. Not in the perfect gift or the flawless dinner, but in the laughter, the warmth and the connection happening right now. And however you're spending this time, I hope you find pockets of joy and peace too.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 🎄✨

See you in 2026,
Gait

I tried to be deep and reflective for a few minutes - but my kids had other plans. (Wait for the ending! 😆)….

As we head into Christmas, I’ve been reflecting on the path that brought me here. For a long time, I let fear make my decisions—fear of judgment, fear of instability, fear of the unknown.

Ironically, Long COVID was the thing that finally freed me. My health and my identity were shaken, but it taught me a vital lesson: you don’t always have to have the answers. It’s okay when things don’t go to plan.

Sometimes, when things fall apart, it’s just an invitation to rebuild something more authentic.

That journey led me to all of you. To my family who held me up, and to my wonderful students who remind me every day why I transitioned into teaching. Seeing the impact of yoga in your lives gives me a sense of purpose I’ve not had before.

Whatever you are facing this season, I hope you know that it’s okay to let go of the “safe” option to make room for what truly matters.

I’m choosing joy this year. I hope you’ll join me. 🤍
