Last night I had the pleasure of presenting to the Animal Sciences society at the University of Lincoln talking about Veterinary Physiotherapy, the purpose and the different techniques we use. I got to show off some of my equipment as well as discuss how we fit in the veterinary and animal sciences industry and where we may go and answer some insightful questions.

As is no surprise to anybody who knows me I forgot to get any pictures in the moment, I got far to excited talking and presenting, so you will have to live with some screen shots of my presentation but it was a wonderful time speaking about my work, the industry and my passion in front of engaged students!

I got to see one of my favourite clients recently, you’re all my favourites frankly I love this work, who had a little accident and need some TLC and a check over. He’s such a big gentle giant and puts up with so much but because he knows it’s to help. Some manual work to relax the muscle tension and make sure he’s got full function and prolonging the treat as well as giving him some stability with the tape using the elasticity of the tape and his own proprioception he’s great and ready to get back to work!

On the catch up from last years skills I’m happy to announce I’ve been studying the art of Kinesiology taping! I completed an initial course back in September and have since spent time studying and going through the research and work of practitioners to make sure I’m running down the right route.

I’m happy to say though it’s now part of the tool kit. It’s an effective tool to prolong the effects of treatment, support the body’s healing and recovery and can help support improved performance. Not to mention who doesn’t want neon racing stripes on their best friend, I know I look cool.

P.S. my alignment is improving I promise!

Hi everybody! I got to do a thing!

I was really honoured just over a week ago to host a CPD event for the NAVP where I got to talk about one of my major interest and the primary work when I worked for The AnImal Health Trust. Equine Water Tredamills!

Since 2015 I have been part of a team investigating their use and what happens to your horse on a water treadmill and I got to spend a couple hours summarising the work and sharing with fellow professionals some of the most important details and things to look out for when using them and I loved it!

CPD as a professional is so important and being able to provide knowledge based from my experience in the field is such a great experience. I hope those who attended enjoyed it and learnt from it and if you’d like to know more then please get in contact with me on:

‼️‼️‼️New Research‼️‼️‼️

We’re back with another study publication! Here’s another paper from the team I’m so lucky to be a part of on the effects of Long Term Water Treadmill exercise on muscle development with a comparison to a group doing matched type training but without the Water Treadmill.

This was a really interesting aspect of the study and I encourage you all to give it a read especially as it’s OPEN ACCESS so you can get access completely free.

Things like this are some of the proudest parts of my career where I’ve not only spent time studying relevant subjects to my work as your Vet Physio but also working with amazing people to create the knowledge that informs your animals care. Hi to all the clients and people who have kindly followed my page and business and those who just happen to come across this page in the wild I have a question for you all.

What are some aspects or topics of Veterinary Physiotherapy, electrotherapies and the surrounding profession you’d like to understand or have explained?

I’m a very lucky individual that prior to becomeing a Vet Physio I had a career in Orthopaedic Research, as I know a lot of my clients have heard about 😂, working with some amazing researchers that taught me to be literate in research but I’m also a very practical man so I’d like topics that your curious about and write up some posts looking at the science and the practical side from my point of view.

I was joined by today in treating some of my clients and it was one of the best days of work I’ve had in a while!

Self Employed Veterinary Physiotherapy can be a professionally lonely job unless you’re in clinic and it’s awesome to bounce ideas off a colleague every once in a while, I don’t want to be blinkered by my experiences, and even better if it’s with a friend!

Now this one is a special paper and the culmination of many years of work by the research team I had the fortune to be a member. We started this work before I even started training to be a Vet Physio!

What’s even better is this paper we managed to get published as open access! No paywall! No restrictions to access! Open for anybody to download and keep after peer review and publishing in the Journal “Animals”.

It’s another Water Treadmill study but one of the first to observe the longitudinal effects and I can’t say how happy I am to see it published especially as I’ve not been as helpful to my team this year with finishing off my MSc 😂

This is the type of work that helps me form my experience and knowledge as a Veterinary Physiotherapist and if this is the type of person you’d like to work with your animals then don’t hesitate to get in contact with me!

Hey horsey friends I have a few of my late Charlie’s rugs to get rid of and some of them just have some big rips in and it just wouldn’t be reasonable to try selling them but the idea of them going in the bin and land fill seems a little crap. Does anybody know of anyone who takes old damaged rugs and repairs or just find a use for them?
