Stretching after a run is vital to prevent injury and allow you to continue to train and is important alongside massage.

Always stretch gently and slowly, working with your breath- lots of people unconsciously hold their breath when stretching!!

Downward dog is a great stretch for hamstrings and can help stretch gastrocnemius ( calf) muscles too. It is a common stretch in yoga classes and ideal for runners.

Clinical yoga classes can be used to work with specific groups of sport athletes or people with injuries to develop yoga stretches specifically for their individual needs.

ALWAYS REMEMBER TO ONLY DO WHAT YOU CAN AND STOP IF IT CAUSES ANY PAIN. If in doubt speak to your GP and work with trained PT or yoga specialists
