My own boy tonight learning to work low and stay chilled. I think we are all guilty of expecting things from our horses that they just aren’t ready for but with a little time, patience and the right work for that individual horse….it’s amazing what can be accomplished. Horses need time and correct balance just like we do.

🐴Poll Nod🐴

Place one hand on the poll and the other across the bone of the nose. Ask the horse to have a neutral, or slightly lowered head position. Use the hand on the poll to stabilise and then with the hand on the nose, bounce gently towards the chest initiating a nodding movement.

This is a great technique to help ease tension in and around the poll. 👍👍👍

Lumbar Flex

Stand to the side facing the horse's hindquarters. Hold the horse's tail anywhere below the dock and pull out to the side. Place other hand on the tuber coxae/bony prominence of the pelvis. Gently pull the tail towards you whilst applying a gentle counter pushing pressure on the tuber coxae to flex the lumbar on the opposite side.

You can do this exercise 2/3 times per week
4-6 times each side.
