I am a yoga teacher, yoga therapist, gardener and herbalist, growing medicinal plants in order to produce the freshest and highest quality herbal medicine you can get.

And this is what the garden looks like now, 5 years in. It is a long, slow process, as I don't have much spare cash, but whatever I have goes into making new beds, planting trees and buying the odd plant here and there. A lot of things have been propagated by me, so it takes a fair few years before they grow up. It is amazing though, looking at the photo of the first year, that was all I could afford, and what I have now! I am very grateful for clients and friends who have let me have all sorts of things for free. Off cuts from a corrugated roof made raised beds, victorian greenhouse windows and scrap wood from 2 different clients made the cold frames and so forth...

I have just had to delete my personal, private, facebook account, because too many people kept messaging me. I felt bullied and badgered. I do not like using Facebook and its messenger system is in breach of privacy laws. I want to protect my patient and client details, not give them away to Facebook! I am sure you will appreciate this.
It was pointed out to me that, apparently, it isn't obvious that you can phone or email me if you are interested in using my services.
In my view, it is pretty obvious under contact details, but just to make it obvious: it is there!
I apologise for sounding a bit rude, but I don't particularly appreciate being more or less forced into firing up an old, broken iPad, the only device that hasn't got anything on there that cannot be shared with Farcebook, as that is all that is on there.
In my view, social media are a necessary evil and having to deal with the fallout from it on a Saturday at half past midnight, when I should be peacefully asleep, is not my idea of normal!
It is not that I don't like to hear from you, quite the contrary, just don't expect and demand 24 hour immediate attention via my private Facebook account/messenger.
You can send a message to this page, I am aware there are a couple that need my attention, but not until Monday morning, thank you!
Yes, I am busy. Yes, I do work 4 evenings a week as well as bank holidays. Patience is a virtue!

Here we have a nice before and after :)
First photo was taken 4 years ago, when I started with 6 raised vegetable beds and a handful of fruit trees.
Second photo was taken last year
Third photo taken this year.
Can't find any photos from 2015 and 2016, sadly :) But it is good to see the slow but steady progress that is being made to transform a field into a productive market and medicinal garden.

I can see people are still trying to contact me via messenger. I can no longer use this because I refuse to give Farcebook access to more or less everything. Please use email or phone in stead.
Be aware that I am very busy and more often than not do not have phone signal and internet, so it may take 48 hours or more to get back to you.
Thanks for understanding...

First delivery of the season made to ! I love this ehubarb plant, it thinks it is a triffid, starts early and keeps producing for months!
Putting an unused compost bin over its emerging foliage was a good idea, look at that colour!

Well, Greenhouse Man hasn't returned with the missing downpipe or the connectors for the drinking troughs so, when in town for my massage, I bought a few bits, and a small water butt in Aldi and now I have a water butt in stead of a missing downpipe, so the water no longer disappears straight into the duct into the greenhouse, flooding it. I have also connected the two tanks. Not quite as well as I wanted, but it will do!

Tao Te Ching - Lao Tzu - chapter 48

In the pursuit of learning, every day something is acquired.
In the pursuit of Tao, every day something is dropped.

Less and less is done
Until non-action is achieved.
When nothing is done, nothing is left undone.

The world is ruled by letting things take their course.
It cannot be ruled by interfering.

A lesson learnt today, while walking the labyrinth, which is still under an inch or so of water... Let it go, nature will do its thing... If medicinal plants drown, they were not the right plants... Listen to the plants, the ones you need will come...

I had really hoped this would not happen... Another snow day! I was supposed to catch up with outstanding gardening work for a client today... And yesterday's carefully fiffly fitting of the brassica netting has been destroyed 😡 Oh well, invoicing, a planting plan for a client and seed sowing it will be. Just so very pleased I rigged up an extension lead to the greenhouse for the heater, to keep the frost off :-o until the electrician comes to bring power to both the workshop and the greenhouse.

The day started cold, but sunny. It remained only just above freezing all day, so I took shelter in the greenhouse and solar shed from time to time, to warm up.
The soil is still very cold and it is too wet for w**ding the herb spiral. I so wished I'd have made that 'no dig' as well! Managed to do some w**ding, so almost all other beds are w**d free. I took the tops out of the hornbeams I planted in November and rounded off their tops. I am going to keep them at 3 metres, same height as the pleached limes.
Planted out seakale and transplanted last year's wild rocket to my 'new' brassica bed and faffed with butterfly netting to keep the chickens, pigeons and cabbage whites off. I spotted a caterpillar on the chicken coop :-o
Motion detection solar light fitted on the shed, directed to the chickens and some other plants planted up. I also managed to rig up shade netting on the greenhouse, as I nearly burnt the tomatoes the other day :-o and sown nasturtiums and evening primrose before being way too cold and having to escape the icey rain that started falling... My unused compost dalek rhubarb forcer is working well! First rhubarb, better start cooking!
