KNOW YOUR NUMBERS.

5 million UK adults aged 18-64 may have undiagnosed high blood pressure – increasing their risk of heart attack, stroke, and kidney disease. Many don’t even know it. That’s why getting a simple blood pressure check could literally be a lifesaver.

High blood pressure is known as the “silent killer” – no symptoms, just risk. But knowing your numbers gives you the power to act – whether that’s eating less salt, being more active, or starting medication if needed. Age doesn’t matter. Everyone should Know Their Numbers!

Know Your Numbers! Week 2025 will take place from 8 - 14 September 2025. Call in to Looe Pharmacy to have your blood pressure taken - no appointment necessary.

Just in case you weren't aware, the government will be carrying out a national test of the UK Emergency Alerts system on Sunday September 7 at 3pm. The test is not intended to alert you to real danger and you will not need to take any further action. Regular testing ensures the system is functioning correctly in case it is needed in an emergency. The test alert will be sent to all compatible 4G and 5G mobile phones and compatible tablets across the UK. Please let your family, friends and neighbours know.

🚰💙 A urinary tract infection (UTI) can cause discomfort, pain, and irritation—but help is closer than you think! Under the Pharmacy First scheme, your local pharmacist can offer expert advice, assess your symptoms, and provide treatment without needing a GP appointment.

🔹 Common UTI symptoms:
✅ A burning sensation when urinating
✅ Needing to p*e more often and urgently
✅ Cloudy, strong-smelling, or dark urine
✅ Pain in your lower tummy or back

💡 What to do if you think you have a UTI?
🔹 Visit your nearest pharmacy—no need for a GP appointment!
🔹 Drink plenty of water to help flush out bacteria.
🔹 Avoid caffeine and alcohol, which can irritate the bladder.

Some parts of the U.K. have recently seen a rise in the number of cases of measles. Vaccines are the best way to protect against infection.

We’re reminding parents to make sure their children are up to date with their MMR vaccinations. 2 doses of the MMR vaccine provide the best protection against measles, mumps and rubella.
