Is "Text Neck" Weighing You Down?

That smartphone in your hand might feel light, but look at the pressure it's putting on your neck! The average human head weighs about 10-12 lbs (around 4.5-5.5 kg). When you tilt your head forward, the strain on your cervical spine increases dramatically:
* 15° tilt: Puts about 12 kg (26 lbs) of pressure on your neck.
* 30° tilt: Increases the load to 18 kg (40 lbs).
* 45° tilt: Strains your neck with a staggering 22 kg (49 lbs) of force.
* 60° tilt: The pressure reaches a maximum of 27 kg (60 lbs)!
This constant strain from looking down at devices can lead to chronic pain, stiffness, and long-term posture issues. It's a common issue we see in clients who spend hours on their phones or at desks.
