This question is frequently asked by those about to embark on some therapy. 🤔
There are many, many to choose from ( and many acronyms!)
It is very important to talk to any prospective therapist before embarking on counselling to see what modality they practice and if you feel that will match your individual needs.
However recent research shows that the major indicator for a positive outcome in therapy is not the modality but the therapeutic relationship.
Do you feel a connection to the therapist ?
Do you relate to them?
Do you feel safe with them?
Do you trust them to be able to carry your stuff ?
These are all questions to ask before you decide who you think will be a good fit for you 🙂

What is personal growth? Not an easy question to answer. We are all unique and growth looks different to each one of us. In summary it is heightening your own self-awareness and self-regulation, noticing behaviour patterns, thoughts and feelings and embracing adaptive change that enhances well-being.
By seeking counselling you are already on a path of growth 🌱

Not going to lie… I don’t enjoy making videos of myself 😬
But counselling taught me something important: growth happens when we do the uncomfortable things.
This is me practicing what I preach - showing up even when it feels awkward. 💛
