The Lonsdale cafe is always open to all the amazing ambulance, nurses, doctors and NHS services that visit Lonsdale Mews.

However, for Emergency Services Day it was nice to formally say ‘thank you’ and acknowledge the great work that they do everyday to support residents and our local community

Coffee and cake, wifi, a space to work or a quick take away is always available - we are very grateful for all that you do! 🩷

Join us for our next Friendship Cafe at 10.30-12.00 on Friday 12th September!

Our free monthly Friendship Cafes take place on the second Friday of every month and are open to anyone in our older community that would like some company, or for carers to bring along someone they are supporting 💜

We have a lovely friendly group get together in our beautiful cafe and gardens and welcome anyone new to join us. Our wonderful volunteers are on hand to welcome you too 💜

We had a fabulous day at the Quorn Food and Craft Trail on Sunday!

Dodging the shower, residents enjoyed trips out in the sunshine, morning and afternoon, to visit the community and enjoy all the lovely treats available. Some did a bit of shopping and enjoyed the music from the Quo on the neighbouring stand.

It was lovely to meet so many people interested in Lonsdale Mews and pick up information from us, and so great that so many supporters stopped by for a chat too. It was great to bump into our art tutor too, Sam from Sparks Art UK !

Our home-made crafts and lavender bags went down well, with some very generous donations being made, all going to our ongoing charity The Bridge Homelessness to Hope - Leicester

What a fabulous day for our residents, getting out and about in the community is important to keep doing!

Are you losing confidence with your mobility and worry about the risk of falling? Perhaps you are caring for a loved one who is experiencing falls?

Come and join us in the Lonsdale Cafe 6.15 - 7.30 pm on Tuesday 23rd September for an informal talk and receive advice from Lisa Rowan, our Moving and Positioning Lead, and Amanda Posnett, a Foot Practitioner.

We will be advising on how to reduce the risk of slips and falls in older age, giving guidance about equipment, exercise and how vital it is to have good fitting footwear to maintain good mobility. We will have some good example items of footwear and slippers to show and discuss how your feet change in later life.

Free refreshments will be served.

We were excited to meet up with Katie from Parkinson's UK to handover a cheque for £4315 to the charity! 💙

Over the past few months, the Lonsdale teams took part in fundraising events with an all day Danceathon and also joined the Walk for Parkinson's. Thank you to everyone that helped us raise this fantastic amount of money to support the charity and highlight awareness for the great work that they do 💙

Our 'iconic' 5th Anniversary Party was the perfect occasion to present awards to some of our long serving team members!

We were proud to have 9 of the original gang together at the party to be presented with their 5 year Long Service Awards, with even more to be presented in the coming weeks 👏

From opening during Covid times in 2020, our home has gone from strength to strength with the thanks to the dedication and commitment of our amazing team members, who have been part of building our 5 star reputation ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

🎉 Celebrating 5 Iconic Years of Lonsdale Mews! 🎉

To mark this special occasion, we threw an unforgettable party afternoon in true Lonsdale style! 🥳

To help us celebrate we were honoured to welcome the Deputy Mayor and Mayoress of Charnwood, plus some memorable royal guests…. Queen Victoria, Queen Elizabeth, and our very own King Charles and Queen Camilla making special appearances!👑

The sunshine was ordered for a perfect afternoon in the garden filled with the sounds from DJ Carl Petch taking us through the music eras 🎶

Our team and families assisted everyone to bring their 'iconic' characters to life with fantastic costumes, celebrating memories and inspirations from across the eras 🤩

We had such an amazing afternoon full of singing, dancing, and joyful celebration with residents, staff, families, volunteers, and community friends all joining in. A huge thank you to Marc Dominic for his magical entertainment and Adele from AMC Dance School for her dazzling showgirl appearance. Thanks too, to all our community friends and supporters that joined us including our friendly Leicestershire Community Police, our invaluable volunteer team, and to Nick, our amazing compère for keeping the party flowing so well🎤🎶 🤹 🃏

Congratulations to our best costume winners, judged by resident 'Frida Kahlo' who were presented with certificates and prizes - well done!👏

After five years, our events just keep getting bigger and better, thanks to our fantastic lifestyle team: Melissa, Sally, Carra, and Sara - well done on another exciting and well organised event - it was simply the best! 👏🥰

The lovely ladies from our centenarian’s club have made the press! 🩷

🎂 A care home in Quorn has marked four remarkable milestone birthdays with a joyful afternoon tea celebration.

Betty Snape, 100, Gwen Nunney 101, Jean Sury, 102 and Mary Setchfield, 102, celebrated their special days by sharing a few secrets to longevity.

When asked her secret to a long life, Betty quipped: “Not having any children to look after,” adding: “you’ve just got to get on with it!”

Mary added that “a good, sensible diet” and “moderation in all things…most of the time” are her secrets to a long and happy life. 🥳

Come and visit our stand located on the Jubilee Gardens, opposite the Quorndon Fox. Jenny and Sally would love to see you!

We have lots of exciting things to chat to you about, from our forthcoming free events, care advice, how we can fulfill lives and support a loved one and most of all, what makes Lonsdale so special - we would love to meet you!

Subject to weather, our residents will be visiting our stand between 11 - 12 & 2.30 - 3.30pm to support them to keep in touch with community too.

Our buddy system is designed to support new colleagues as they settle into life in our homes. A buddy offers guidance, encouragement and a friendly face.

Colleagues like Lisa, from Lonsdale Mews Care Home, receive dedicated training to mentor those who are and become part of our network of buddies.

Congratulations to Carra from our Lifestyle team on being presented with a GEM Award for ‘Going the Extra Mile’! 🌟

Carra has been recognised for the commitment, energy, and teamwork she brings to planning and running our programme of outings. Making sure residents enjoy regular trips and new experiences, all delivered safely, smoothly, and with great care, takes real dedication 💛

On top of that, Carra is one of our qualified minibus drivers and plays a key role in supporting our fantastic volunteers too 💛

Adele brought her wonderful 'Dancing Memories' session to Lonsdale last week, kicking off our ‘icons’ theme in the lead-up to our 5th Anniversary Party! 🎶🕺

We had such a great time singing along and acting out some of the most iconic songs from across the decades — look at the smiles! 🎤💃

With all the 5's, we have 5 days to go, counting down to Friday 5th September and getting into our ‘icon’ costumes, for what promises to be an iconic 5th anniversary celebration ! 🎉🥂
