We are proud to share that our CEO, Philip Gerrard, has been awarded an MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) in the New Year Honours List 🙌

Philip is being recognised for his services to the deaf community, cultural inclusion and disability rights. This honour reflects his leadership, vision and lifelong commitment to creating a more equal society.

Philip said: “I am deeply grateful to the person who took the time and care to nominate me. This recognition reflects the collective efforts of many people working to advance deaf equality, cultural inclusion and disability rights, and I am proud to have played a small part alongside them.”

We are incredibly proud to see Philip’s contribution recognised at this national level.

It’s been a very busy year at UK Deaf Sport. The Tokyo 2025 Deaflympics has been a huge focus but we’ve had lots of other things going on too, including:

💫 Launching our Destination Deaflympics programme
💫 Giving evidence at the State of Play enquiry at Parliament
💫 Working with MacDonalds to deliver their Fun Football Sessions to deaf children
💫 Cheering on our deaf runners in the London Marathon
💫 Recruiting 4 new members to our Board of Directors
💫 Celebrating Deaf Day at City Lit
