Nant Celyn Primary School recently hosted a Listen Up session as part of their involvement in Destination Deaflympics β UK Deaf Sportβs engagement programme to encourage young people to get active!
The session, held on the 4th June, organised by Jo Plant from SenCom, was run by Kristy Hopkins; a Qualified Teacher of Deaf Children & Young People who plays for the Wales Deaf Rugby Team.
During the session Kristy delivered a short, informative PowerPoint presentation on her experience as a deaf person, from growing up right through to being selected for Welsh Deaf Rugby Union.
The aim of the session was to try and inspire the children and young people to believe that they can achieve anything, learn new skills, as well as make friends and gain confidence! This was followed by a session where the children and young people were involved in some rugby skill-based activities.
