Name: David Aryeetey

Speciality/areas of focus: Running, Hyrox/Functional Fitness.

Years of experience: I’ve been working as a fitness instructor for just under a year but have always been involved with exercise and fitness, competing in track and field for 15 years.

Training philosophy/coaching style: I like to push people and show them that they’re capable of more than they think. If you can still talk whilst training, you’re not training hard enough!

Why I became a coach: Exercise has had a huge impact on my life so I wanted to give back and help others achieve their fitness goals.

Favourite way to train personally: HIIT workouts.

Top tip for clients: Results won’t happen overnight, stay disciplined and keep showing up, trust the process and they will come.

Go-to workout playlist: House Supreme

Fun fact: I’ve ran for England in the 400m hurdles.

Favourite exercise: Running.

Motto: Discipline > motivation.

Name: Laura Bettles

Specialities/areas of focus: I like to focus on building strength, enhancing mobility and promoting functional fitness.

Years of experience: I have 5 years experience as a fitness instructor and personal trainer.

My coaching style: Fun, relaxed and conversational, but always focused on proper form and building functional strength. I believe you can train hard and still have fun doing it.

Why I became a fitness coach: I love to keep fit and help others feel good about themselves. I love to share my energy and passion with everyone I work with. There’s nothing like seeing someone’s eyes light up when they realise they’re stronger than they ever imagined and that feeling is why I do what I do.

My favourite way to train: By having the music on full blast and to do a mix of heart pumping cardio and strength building weight work it’s the best of both worlds.

Top tip for clients: Nail your technique first, the strength, the speed and results will follow. Remember quality beats quantity.

Go-to workout playlist: 90’s / 00’s dance music.

Fun fact: I spend my weekends watching my boys play football but still haven’t got a clue what the off side rule is.😂

Favourite exercise: Walking, I love to take my dog, Cracker, out on long walks.

Motto: In a world of cheerio’s be a fruit loop.

Meet the coaches!

Name: Dylan Henderson

Specialities/areas of focus: My specialities and expertise lies mostly in building muscle effectively and increasing strength.

Years of experience: I have been training for 7 years in the gym and have been a Coach for 3 of those years.

Training philosophy: I like to focus on the basics and keep it simple when coaching. Introduce other things as experience grows.

Why I became a coach: My Uncle was also in the industry and he was a massive inspiration to me, he’s also the reason I started to train myself!

Favourite way to train: Weight training and strength training.

Top tip for clients: Focus on the short term wins over the long term goal, as those short wins add up to the eventual long term goal.

Go-to workout song: “Right Here” Jess Glynne. She’s my guilty pleasure.😂😂😂

Fun fact: I’m a massive sports fan and have played football myself for 16 years on and off. Currently also dabble in darts ( if you class it as a sport).

Meet the coaches!

Name: Emily Wheatley

Specialities/areas of focus: I focus on strength, muscle building and improving flexibility.

Years of experience: I have 4.5 years experience as a personal trainer and fitness instructor.

Training philosophy: The last rep should be too tough to complete. If you can do another 5, you should up your weight. The gym is the only place where failure is success.

Why I became a coach: I became a coach as I am passionate about health and fitness. We loose 6% of muscle mass per decade as we age (this doubles for women in menopause) if we do not actively strength train. I am determined to stay strong and fit into old age and want to help others do the same.

Favourite way to train personally: My favourite way to train is by having lots of variety. I like to hike, run, cycle and use weights to work each muscle group.

Top tip for clients: Even when you can’t be bothered, just do it. 20 minutes is better than nothing. You’ll 100% feel better afterwards.

Go-to workout playlist: Run ‘n’ Bass

Fun fact: I slept in a cave in a sleeping bag in -5° just for fun.🤣

Favourite exercise: Hiking and mountain walking.

Motto: You never regret a workout.

Meet the coaches!

Name: Di Fisher

Years of experience: I’ve been an exercise physiologist for longer than most of my colleagues have been alive: starting in 1995.

Training philosophy: I very much believe in - use it or lose it and that applies to mobility / flexibility / strength and endurance.

Top tips for clients: The secret to staying young is definitely a positive mindset but compliment that with a good personalised exercise prescription and you will be physically younger.

My hobbies/interests: My hobbies are sport based recently taking up pickleball.
However I love hockey and intend to stay in the pitch for as long as possible.

Why I train: Staying physically younger means I will be able to keep up with my grandchildren for a good few years yet.

Motto: I believe life is for living and intend to do that for a very long time.
