The Carpenter's Arms

The Carpenter's Arms Accommodation providing addiction related support primarily for those challenged with homelessness This programme ranges from 2 weeks to 3 months long.

The programme -

Phase 1: We have 18 bedrooms across 2 sites for new arrivals, commonly referred to as Phase 1. Here residents can settle in, reduce from methadone, subutex, chlordiazapoxide or a range of other prescribed medications to aid with substance withdrawal. Here residents are expected to work with staff to detox and prepare for Phase 2 should the resident successfully complete Phase 1. P

hase 2: This part of the programme focuses on the pastoral issues surrounding the addictive lifestyle, including looking at the back to work mentality. During this time residents will be encouraged to reconcile with family, visits facilitated and progress made on core issues by one of our support workers. Phase 3: For those who have successfully completed a residential addiction recovery centre, ours or a similar programme in the UK, we offer great accommodation in and around the Loughborough area. These houses have a member of staff living in and space for up to 4 residents. During this time the resident will be encouraged back to work, but realistically the timetable is their own. A regular review takes place every three months to determine the progress a resident is making in Phase 3 and, along with their key worker, new long term objectives are set. Help is never far away though as the live in staff member assists with daily challenges including work place issues and life skills. Re-offenders: Due to our close working relationship with the police and probation, and in no small part to the further education courses that some residents enrol on, we have found particular success with re-offenders. For those coming out of prison, our centre provides a stable platform for reintegration whilst addressing recovery from addiction. This programme includes move on houses with voluntary work available. Perks: We have found that part of successful rehabilitation is a healthy body as well as a healthy mind. We have a gym at Phase 2, a 5 a side football team, a scuba diving club and volunteering opportunities that include gardening within the community. This is a great chance to invest in the local community. After a busy day, catch up with other residents in the hot tub onsite or over a game of pool or table tennis. Street-2-life: This is a fantastic opportunity for willing residents to sow back into a younger generation by visiting schools and running workshops on substance abuse. This includes working with local youth groups. Family feel: Our largest centre has 29 bedrooms so there is always a sense of knowing who you live with and who you’re going through the programme with. We recognise that a support network is a necessary tool and so we will also work with clients to help reconcile family relationships. We believe that Christianity provides a firm foundation and ethos to operate under. No-one is excluded from applying for a place on our programme. Although we are based in Leicestershire, we are able to accommodate referrals nationwide. Application forms and House Rules can be downloaded from our website.

Loughborough College are playing their part in tackling digital poverty and supporting employability with their donation of 30 refurbished laptops to The Carpenter’s Arms.

Their generosity will help our residents take part in online learning, work towards their CSCS cards – a key qualification for the construction industry – and build confidence using software, working on their CVs, searching for jobs, attending online interviews and, when the time comes, finding their next home.

This donation is a brilliant step towards helping our residents gain new skills, rebuild their confidence, and move forward into employment and independent living.

If you’d like to help, you can purchase any of the items shown below directly from our Amazon Wish List. Your gifts will be sent straight to us.

Happy Father’s Day from all of us at The Carpenter’s Arms 💙

Recovery isn’t just about overcoming addiction – it’s about being present, rebuilding trust, and showing up for the people we love.

Today we’re celebrating some of the amazing dads in our community who are doing exactly that!

A huge thank you to Crown Decorating Centres Nottingham West Bridgford for their first generous donation of mistint paints to our Six Hills site! 🎨 These surplus paints are still perfectly good to use and would’ve otherwise gone to waste — so they’re ideal for helping us keep the site looking fresh and full of life.

Dr. Julie Bradshaw MBE is no stranger to overcoming challenges. From breaking the World Record for the fastest Butterfly Solo Swim across the English Channel to becoming a counsellor, coach, the Mayor of Charnwood and dedicated supporter of addiction recovery, Julie brings her passion and experience to a special Outdoor Swim and Q&A this June with The Carpenter’s Arms CEO Richard Spence.

Together, they’ll explore the powerful link between sport and recovery – and how self-belief, resilience and mindset make all the difference.

The event will also be joined by Cllr David Northage, Mayor of Charnwood. We’re honoured to be one of his chosen charities for the year and delighted to welcome his support on the day.

We’re thrilled to welcome Enva as the shirt sponsor for our charity’s football team for the season 2025-26!

And it comes at the perfect time – drum roll please – as we secured back-to-back promotion last night, this time to Division 1 of the Power Play League.

Football shows how our team – made up of current and former residents, together with our volunteers and staff members – can tackle playing sports competitively, sober and with respect.

It was fab to be cheered on at the kit reveal by Enva’s Kirsty Woodward and Daniel Chechlacz and to welcome Ryan Walsh to the squad!

Big thanks too to Fanatics Supplies Ltd who provided the kit at a discounted price and kindly donated a raft of other football goodies for the lads.
