Well it’s the last day of August and as we welcome September I always feel like it’s a second New Year, does it feel like that for you?

After the summer, I actually love the return of routine – a rhythm that keeps us grounded and gently nudges us back when life gets busy. And this week we start to get back to our full timetable of classes both online and in person.

Getting back into classes brings me so much joy – the buzz, the familiar faces, the laughter, and that wonderful post-Pilates feeling of being taller, calmer, and more you.

So get ready to rediscover your rhythm, as classes get back into full swing, and let’s get back into the new season’s routine together.

Flashback Friday … this is me teaching face to face a ‘special’ Pilates class using a chair as a prop, in our Loughborough venue…. Back when I had curly hair!!

There’s been a few different hair do’s since then, but our Pilates classes continue with the same love and passion for movement and helping everyone to continue to live a healthy, active life.

Hi everyone, hope you are enjoying this bank holiday weekend.

Have you read this week’s JTP newsletter? It’s all about the importance of mindfulness to living a more balanced life.

There are four good health reasons for grabbing even some micro-moments of mindfulness :

✨ lower your heart rate and blood pressure
✨ reduce stress hormones like cortisol
✨ improve focus and decision-making
✨ boost your mood by increasing “feel-good” chemicals in the brain

Think of it like charging your phone — little top-ups through the day keep your battery from running flat.

Just as regular movement keeps your body happy, (see this week’s exercise of the week), regular small moments of mindfulness keep your battery topped up and your mind happy.

Bank holidays are perfect for this, by unplugging from the daily, regular routine it provides some time to recharge your batteries.

Happy Bank Holiday everyone, recharge those batteries and regain some balance for your mind and body.

How’s your week been so far?

If your energy ‘out’ is starting to outweigh your energy ‘in’, you might be feeling tired, perhaps a bit cranky and you keep reaching for this sugary snacks. Here’s some suggestions as to how you can get that balance back:

1. Fuel steadily – Aim for balanced meals and snacks that combine protein, healthy fats, and slow-release carbs. (Think: apple slices with nut butter, oatcakes with hummus, or Greek yogurt with berries.)

2. Hydrate often – Dehydration can make you feel sluggish and foggy, so keep your water bottle close. Add lemon, cucumber, or mint if plain water bores you.

3. Move mindfully – Little bursts of movement through the day can wake up your body without draining it. Standing, stretching, or walking for 5 minutes can work wonders.

4. Rest with purpose – Even short pauses can refill your tank. Step outside, close your eyes, or take a few slow breaths.
