Another sign that Pilates is more than movement and physical exercise is when at the end of my kick start xtra class on Wednesday, someone said ‘ooh that went so quickly, was it really 30 minutes?’
I think it’s great when someone completely loses track of time in class.
One minute you’re settling in, the next you’re stretching it out at the end thinking ‘wow have we finished already?’
It tells me that you’ve hit the magic spot where body and mind are fully involved. When this happens worries quietly slip out the side door, and you’ve given yourself permission to just be right there.
No rushing, no multitasking, no mental to-do list waving at you.
It’s not about the clock. It’s about being so connected to your movement and breath that time decides to behave itself for once. And honestly, in a busy world, that little time warp is a gift.
If your class ever feels like it went too quickly, take it as a very good sign. Your nervous system will thank you later.
