We met in halls…a lifetime ago, total opposites who just clicked.
Her: sunshine, sea breeze, effortlessly gorgeous 🧜‍♀️
Me: slightly feral, sweary, and powered by alcohol & ci******es 🤭

Fast forward through early Facebook wall essays and nights out where someone looked sober but was actually the one being sick out of a car in the wee hours (not naming names 👀).

And now she’s running a MARATHON tomorrow to raise money for Parkinson’s UK

I’m so ridiculously proud of you Murph. Even with the mile 21 worries - you’ve got this 💪🏻

🌻 Rebel Sunflower Birth Chats 🌻

Don’t need or want a full package…I’m not offended, promise 😉 Sometimes you just want to sit down with someone impartial and go: “right…talk me through this”.

That’s exactly what these are.

A one-off, 1:1 session where we can chat through whatever’s on your mind - no pressure, no commitment, no overwhelm (snack eating always acceptable though 😏).

These are perfect if you:
✨ have a specific question or decision to make
✨ are feeling a bit “I don’t even know what I don’t know”
✨ want to sense-check your options
✨ just need a calm, non-judgemental space to talk things through

We can cover things like:

🌻 Toxic positivity doesn’t belong in birth 🌻

You can do all the prep. You can read the books, take the courses, practise the breathing, fill your head with affirmations...

And still…birth can go in a completely different direction. Sometimes, Mother Nature just throws a curveball.

You didn’t do anything wrong. It’s not because you didn’t try, or believe in yourself enough. You didn’t ‘miss’ something.

Sometimes it’s about the care you received, yes. And sometimes, if we’re being honest, birth just does what it wants - no matter how much we try to “do all the right things”.

What’s not helpful is the quiet (or not so quiet) suggestion that a different outcome was there for the taking…if you’d just done things differently…

That’s a gut punch (and I’ve been there). Especially when you’re surrounded by stories of soft lighting, calm bodies, and everything seemingly unfolding as planned.

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with those stories…but they’re not the only version of birth.

And if yours was harder, messier, or didn’t look how you hoped…that doesn’t say anything about you, or your body.

Birth isn’t a performance. Nor is one kind of birth more worthy than the next.

We all have a story - and every single one is valid.

We’ve just got back from a little break in South Wales…

If you’ve ever wondered what holidaying with my family might look like…here you go:

One child deeply concerned with the ply of toilet paper wherever we go (3-ply this time - big success).
Also unwaveringly committed to their tablet 🙃

The other requires approximately half the car packed with regulation tools - (spy the fidget seat). Said child also spent the week doing front flips. Indoors. Outdoors. No clear preference…

Me: travelling with my own cup because my morning tea is a non-negotiable for my own regulation, and frankly tastes like s**t otherwise.

And my husband…just along for the ride, looking offensively good on the beach as always

Anyway - here’s some photos and as is tradition, I’m more exhausted than before we left 🤣 🧟‍♀️

Taking a breath, a pause, asking for clarification, for space, for privacy to make decisions - they’re all OK 🌸
