So excited to have Dr Rosy joining ur team!

Meet Dr. Rosy Mason! 🎉

I’m delighted to welcome Dr. Rosy Mason to the clinic! Dr. Rosy is an experienced GP with additional qualifications and hospital dermatology training, and she will be seeing patients on Wednesdays alongside her other dermatology roles.

One of the biggest challenges in the clinic has been keeping waiting times down. Right now, my next available appointment is four weeks away, and I know that’s not ideal. Over the past 18 months, Dr. Christine has done an excellent job, and I’ve been searching for the right person to join our team—someone with the training, skills, and personality to fit our clinic’s vision and mission.

Dr. Rosy ticks all the boxes, and with her on board, we aim to reduce waiting times and continue providing expert, patient-focused skin care.

Brilliant day at the action Cancer International Skin Cancer Conference! So great to hear from our Australian collegues about their approach to sun safety and managing skin lesions. I’m so enthused to use what I’ve learned and share it with our brilliant patients!

Melanoma skin cancer is on the rise

Cancer Research UK predicts a record 20,800 cancer cases this year, up from an average of 19,300 between 2020 and 2022.

Melanomas, a serious skin cancer, can spread to other parts of the body. The report states that 17,000 melanoma cases each year are preventable, with nearly 90% caused by excessive UV radiation.

The rise in cases affects all age groups, with the largest increases among those over 80 and adults aged 25 to 49.

To spot melanoma early, use the ABCDE method:
- **A** for Asymmetry: One half of the mole doesn't match the other.
- **B** for Border: Irregular, ragged, or blurred edges.
- **C** for Color: Uneven colors, with shades of brown, black, pink, red, white, or blue.
- **D** for Diameter: Larger than 6mm, though they can be smaller.
- **E** for Evolving: Changes in size, shape, or color.

Check your moles regularly if you notice changes then get them checked out. And always use sun cream!

If you have a mole you are worried about consider coming to see us at the clinic!

The biggest increase is among the over 80s, with a marked rise in cases in adults aged 25-49.

What skin care should my teen using?

Navigating skincare for your teen can be tricky, but let’s keep it simple and easy!

Start with a mild cleanser suited for sensitive or young skin. Opt for a foaming or gel formula for best results. Start a straightforward routine of cleansing twice daily, followed by moisturizing and sunscreen. This sets the stage for healthy skin habits.

In this video we chat more about caring for your teen's changing skin! 🌟💧
