Wow - what amazing weather for a week off in the UK!!

I am sure I’m not the only one getting lots of time outdoors and enjoying the sunshine. ☀️

I highly recommend Chelsea in Bloom for next year - but go early!

I love walking around in the local forests with the dog and seeing what’s in flower. 🌺

Day trips by train are great with an added bonus of family & a dip in the sea! 🏖️

See you back in clinic next week …

3 pieces of research have been published recently that looked at exercise and TTC.

Outcomes:
💚 If you are a healthy weight, trying to conceive naturally but like to exercise, you can moderately exercise and make sure you fuel your body appropriately
🩷 If you have PMOS (was PCOS), embrace regular movement
💛 During IVF, walking and light exercise are safe - don’t stop moving

Summary: Movement when trying to conceive could support a better outcome.

✨ How to Choose an IVF Clinic ✨

Most people select an IVF clinic based on cost and location, but there are key questions you should ask to find the right fit for you.

👉🏻 You should be interviewing them. They should be grateful you want to work with them - not you grateful they have put you on their patient list!

✅ Will you treat me? – Consider factors like AMH & AFC, age, BMI, and diagnosis.
✅ Are adequate tests done first? – A tailored approach matters!
✅ What are your success rates? – Look at pregnancy & live birth rates by age, diagnosis, and donor (if using). Also ask what percentage of cycles don’t have an embryo to transfer.
✅ What are your multiple birth rates? – This affects both safety & outcomes.
✅ Are services available 7 days a week? – Bloods, scans, retrievals, and transfers.
✅ How experienced is your embryology team? – Stability & expertise are key.
✅ What new technology do you use? – Think time-lapse incubation, microbiome testing, and other innovations.
✅ What are the full costs? – Include extra tests, investigations, and medications.
✅ Where are procedures done? – Check bloods, scans, retrieval, and transfer locations.
✅ How do they manage you through the process? - Think consistent consultant for continuity, dedicated support nurse, app with medication alerts, responsiveness to questions.
✅ If the clinic also works with NHS patients, how do they differentiate care with private patients?
✅ How convenient are clinic locations? – Factor in work & home logistics.
✅ What are the waiting times? – Also, look at stimulation vs. transfer timing & appointment availability.
✅ Do they consider my long-term family goals? – Not just one baby, but your whole future.
✅ How can I improve my chances? – A holistic, personalized approach is essential.

Choosing the right IVF clinic is about more than cost and convenience—it’s about finding a team that truly understands you and your goals.

🌿 If you’re trying to conceive, this new research changes everything about what’s on your plate.

A brand new peer-reviewed study has found that ultra-processed food consumption — in BOTH partners — is directly linked to reduced fertility and impaired early embryonic development.

Here’s what the science says:

🔬 For women: Higher intake of ultra-processed foods (UPF) was associated with smaller embryo size and reduced yolk sac volume — affecting the very first stages of your baby’s development.

🔬 For men: Higher UPF consumption was linked to reduced fertility outcomes.

And here’s the part most people miss — the periconceptional window (includes the months BEFORE conception) is one of the most critical periods for your reproductive health.

What you eat right now is already influencing your chances.

So what counts as ultra-processed?
→ Packaged snacks, ready meals, flavoured cereals
→ Soft drinks, energy drinks
→ Processed meats, fast food
→ Anything with a long list of additives you can’t pronounce

The good news?
👉🏻 This is something you have real power over.

In my acupuncture clinic, a healthy diet is always part of the conversation.

Knowledge, community & vision — all in one day. 📚🌿

This past Saturday I attended a fantastic conference bringing together acupuncturists across the field.

From insightful talks on TCM and acupuncture to exciting updates on the future direction of our profession, it was a truly inspiring day.

Moments like these remind me why I love what I do — and why continuing education and community matter so much.
