Soleful Therapies

Soleful Therapies I am a Clinical Reflexologist (MAR ,CRM5 Dip) and Holistic Therapist So I began to look into a more holistic approach to help manage this.

Hi thanks for visiting my page, let me tell you abit about myself.....I'm Julie, mother to my two grown up children Sam and Emily and nanny to my beautiful granddaughter Lily. Besides being an holistic therapist i work 2 days a week on a day surgery ward at Louth hospital. At the age of 11 after struggling with health issues I was diagnosed with Crohns Disease and been on many different medication

s and had numerous hospital stays throughout the years. This diagnosis greatly impacted my mental health causing me to suffer the effects of extreme anxiety. Several years ago I reached a considerable low point in my life, both with my mental and physical health and it was then that I realised I had to take control of my general health and well being after discovering the impact the state of our mental health has on our physical health. The 'mind - body' link is a powerful one and I know from personal experience that when I feel stressed I have a bad day with my Crohns! I began discovering many different therapies, reading many self-help books and generally became more mindful of how I live my life and how to best look after my mind, body and soul. It was through this journey I discovered reflexology and how amazingly relaxed it made me feel and how it helped me destress which had an incredible impact on the improvement of my all round health and so my passion for this amazing therapy began! I began my training in 2017 studying anatomy, physiology and many pathologies and how these are relevant and integrate with reflexology and completed 100 treatments+ where I witnessed incredible improvements on the clients health and became a fully qualified and fully insured clinical reflexologist gaining the top qualification ..a mastership with Centralia Level 5 Diploma in Practitioner Reflexology, accredited by the award winning organisation Agored Cymru and my business, Soleful Therapies was born....treating the mind, body and soul. I am a member of the Association of Reflexologists and I show that I uphold high standards of practice and I comply with the current Data Protection Act and I am listed on the register of the Complimentary and Natural Healthcare Council. I am very mindful of infection prevention and adhere to the Covid secure workplace policy . I was so excited to open up my own treatment room and now have added other therapies to my service list and continually study and research reflexology practices and new therapies and how best to treat my clients, putting them at the forefront of my mind , continually wanting to improve my skillset and move forward. On my first meeting with my client I take a thorough consultation then design a bespoke treatment plan suited to my clients individuals needs and offer suggestions and guidance on how to best improve their overall wellbeing and provide them with the best treatments possible .Seeing my clients leave the tranquil setting of my treatment room 'at peace' , calm and relaxed and their positive feedback on how I have helped contribute and improve their health and wellbeing is invaluable . So lets go on this journey together to help discover the best ways to becoming a 'better you' and experience the amazing benefits of my treatments . For more information please don't hesitate to contact me by either giving me a call , via text, messenger ,message via Instagram or email . Thanks for reading

Pain is a complex experience influenced not only by physical factors, but also by the nervous system, stress levels, and emotional wellbeing. When the body is under prolonged stress, the nervous system can remain in a heightened state, which may increase muscle tension and amplify the perception of pain.

Reflexology is a complementary therapy that works by encouraging deep relaxation and supporting the nervous system. By helping the body shift out of a stress response, reflexology may assist in easing muscle tension and supporting the body’s natural pain-modulation processes. This relaxation response can influence how pain signals are perceived and processed.

Reflexology may also support circulation, helping to improve the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to tissues while assisting with the removal of metabolic waste products. This can be particularly beneficial for areas of ongoing tension or discomfort.

While reflexology does not diagnose or treat medical conditions, it may be used alongside conventional care as part of a holistic approach to pain management. By supporting relaxation, circulation, and nervous system balance, reflexology can help improve comfort levels, body awareness, and overall wellbeing over time.

Cash or Card this Christmas? 🎄

It’s always nice to receive a Christmas card from your loved ones at Christmas. However, more and more people are choosing to donate the money that they would usually spend on cards to charity.

If you are someone who is thinking of donating your Christmas card money to charity instead, please consider Lily’s Rainbow Fund. 🎄🌈🦄

With the donated money, Lily’s Rainbow Fund and Oscar’s Paediatric Brain Tumour Charity will be bringing joy to children affected by brain tumours, including the siblings of those with brain tumours, this Christmas through their Booster Boxes. 🧸🪁

£100 pays for a full box of gifts tailored to each individual child.

Christmas is difficult enough for families affected by childhood brain tumours, help us make them a little brighter. ✨

Great info explaining why you feel so tired after a reflexology treatment …. I always advise clients to rest if they can after their session …have a read….🥰

It’s not unusual to feel sleepy, heavy, or even emotionally drained after a reflexology session, and it’s actually a good sign that your body is responding.

Reflexology activates the parasympathetic nervous system - the “rest and digest” branch responsible for slowing the heart rate, lowering blood pressure, and triggering recovery processes. When the body shifts out of a chronic stress state (sympathetic dominance), it finally has permission to relax, repair, and rebalance.

That deep relaxation can sometimes feel like fatigue, especially if your system has been running on adrenaline or stress hormones for a long time. The tiredness isn’t a side effect. It’s a signal that your body is resetting its internal balance.

📚 Research supports this response:

Studies, including McVicar et al. (Complementary Therapies in Clinical Practice, 2007), show measurable reductions in heart rate, blood pressure, and anxiety levels following reflexology - clear indicators of parasympathetic activation.

A 2011 pilot study published in the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine found that reflexology sessions produced significant decreases in salivary cortisol (the body’s main stress hormone), reinforcing the link between reflexology and stress reduction.

Improvements in sleep quality and relaxation have been documented across multiple clinical settings, from cancer care to maternity wards, all pointing to the same physiological mechanism of rest and regulation.

💧 How to support your body afterward:

Drink water to help the body process metabolic by-products released during deep relaxation.

Avoid caffeine or alcohol immediately after your session to prolong the calm.

Rest if you can, even a short nap or quiet time helps integrate the benefits.

Feeling tired after reflexology is simply your body exhaling and catching up on the rest it’s been asking for. 😴
