As an established and experienced celebrant, one of the greatest privileges of the role is working with families to celebrate the Life Story of their loved one. These tributes have a wonderful power; bringing colour, light and humour into a funeral as family and friends hear their loved one’s life story being told.
It’s a process which celebrates and honours life with authenticity, love and respect.
To create and then tell the story of someone so loved after their passing is not only a powerful and fitting tribute to those who have died, but a vital part of the grieving process for family members. It validates the powerful emotions of grief, but also brings great comfort to be able to read and then re-read the life story of a loved one.
However, not everyone has the chance to have their loved one’s story powerfully written and shared with sincerity.
With more individuals and families opting for Direct Cremations, many people do not have a funeral as such. This can sometimes leave a grieving family with a sense of void because they never had their chance to say goodbye.
And - sadly - not all funerals are written to the same quality or in close partnership with families, which can leave a precious life story untold, unheard and potentially forgotten.
Additionally, some people may be looking at their own end of life arrangements and want someone to write their Life Story with authenticity, compassion and commitment.
I am therefore now honoured to be able to include a unique Life Story writing offer to my day to day celebrancy role. It does not matter how long ago your loved one passed away or whether you wish to use me as a celebrant for a future service or not.
My Life Story writing offer to families will include
- a full and in depth family interview with as many family members who wish to be present so I can get to know your loved one as I hear you tell me their Life Story. This meeting can either be online or face to face depending on location or preference.
- an opportunity for you to be part of the Life Story writing process as you proof read and check over first drafts.
- a beautifully written Life Story of your loved one for you and generations to come to treasure. This will not only include the chronology of their life but capture their unique essence, personality and identity.
