The role of our Healthcare Assistants
Our Healthcare assistants assist with a range of clinical duties, like taking blood samples, blood pressure checks, ECGs, new patient checks, health promotion, vaccinations and wound care, under the guidance of the wider healthcare professional team. They work alongside the team and support with observing, monitoring and recording patients’ conditions, to provide joined-up care. They play a crucial role in supporting the Clinical Team.

The role of our Advanced Nurse Practitioner
Our Advanced Nurse practitioner is a highly experienced nurse who has carried out additional training to become an Advanced Nurse Practitioner. They can provide treatment and advice for many problems for which you may have seen a doctor for in the past. They have many areas of expertise.
Advanced Nurse practitioners can assess and examine you, make a diagnosis and provide advice and treatment including a prescription if required. They can order any necessary investigations, make referrals to hospital doctors or other health care professionals, and admit patients into hospital when necessary.
Advanced Nurse practitioners work closely with your doctor and liaise frequently with her/him about your care. If clinically appropriate, you may be referred to the doctor.

Healthcare professionals in your GP surgery
There are lots of different kinds of healthcare professionals working at Marsh Medical Practice, besides your GP. They each have distinct roles and specialist skills. When you contact the surgery, you will be offered an appointment with the person who is best placed to help your needs. This is why when you first contact the surgery, we ask what you need help with.
Each GP surgery chooses which professionals it wants to be part of its team, based on the needs within the local community. We host some, but not all of these roles. Over the coming weeks we will be explaining these roles on our page.

Orders after this date will be available for collection from 2nd January
