đŸŒ» Watching flowers fade and seasons turn can stir deep reflections. Existential therapy reminds us that we live in cycles of beginnings and endings, and that our task is not to resist them, but to find meaning as we move through them. Counselling can support you in exploring how these cycles echo in your own life.

A picture taken on Tuesday, after a walk and talk counselling session. Such a difference in weather since then!

I love walk and talk therapy because it feels so much more natural for some people. Moving side by side often makes it easier to open up than sitting face to face in a room. The fresh air and rhythm of walking can calm the nervous system, lift your mood, and help release some of the tension you’re carrying.

Sometimes the simple act of being outdoors gives space for words and feelings to flow in a way they don’t always indoors. It’s still therapy, just with the added grounding and gentleness of nature.

Anxiety is your body’s way of saying, "I don’t feel safe." It’s future-focused and can take over our thoughts, bodies, and relationships. Therapy creates space to understand its message and soothe the alarm.

There are ways to cope and these usually are finding ways to be more present in the moment.

Coping Tools:
Try 5-4-3-2-1 grounding to reconnect to the present
Use box breathing to regulate your nervous system
Challenge anxious thoughts with a balanced reframe

Protecting Your Mental Wellbeing...

Boundaries are more than just limits, they are part of the foundation of looking after our own needs. They help us stay connected to ourselves, preserve our energy, and feel emotionally safe in our relationships.

From a therapeutic view, boundary-setting is grounded in person-centred and CBT-based approaches, both of which encourage self-awareness and empower us to take responsibility for our emotional wellbeing.

Here’s how you can begin to honour your boundaries:

Name your limits: Notice when something feels too much or not enough. Resentment, anxiety, or burnout are often signs your needs are being overlooked.

Use clear, kind language: “I need some quiet time after work to recharge, can we catch up later instead?”

Say no without apology: Saying no isn’t rejection, it’s protection. It’s how we stay in alignment with ourselves.

Expect respect: When we model healthy boundaries, we give others permission to do the same.

Start small and stay consistent: Boundaries don’t have to be loud or dramatic. Quiet, consistent choices are often the most powerful.

Setting boundaries is an act of self-love. It’s a way of saying: I matter. My needs are valid. I deserve to be respected.

Feeling Isolated? You’re Not Alone.

There’ve been times at school or even with mates when we’ve felt like we didn’t really belong, or like no one would notice if we weren’t there. It’s a weird feeling, and it can mess with your head, especially if you’re going through changes, feeling anxious, or struggling with stuff you don’t feel able to say out loud.

What we’ve realised is: loads of people feel like this, but hardly anyone talks about it.

If you’re feeling like this right now, please know you're not weird or broken, you’re just human. It really does help to do one small thing, message someone, take a walk, or just say how you’re feeling. That’s how connection starts again.
We noticed that we were usually looking at it in a negative light, that we had people would would be happy to talk to us but we didn't always see it.

Cyberbullying Hurts... And It’s Okay to Speak Up

Online spaces should feel safe. But sometimes, they don’t. If you’ve ever been the target of mean comments, exclusion, or threats online, that’s cyberbullying. And it’s not okay.

We have both had experiences where we used to get DMs and comments that made us feel rubbish. It would be stuff people would never say in real life. It knocked our confidence for ages until we started telling people and got help. Speaking up helped us see that we weren't alone in this experience and talking through counselling helped us focus on improving our confidence.

Ever fallen into a rabbit hole on TikTok? You watch one sad or negative video, and suddenly your whole feed is full of them. That’s exactly how your brain works with negative thoughts.

If you keep telling yourself, “I always mess things up” or “Nothing good ever happens to me,” your brain starts filtering everything through that mindset, just like the algorithm feeding you more of what it thinks you want. These are cognitive distortions, our brain believes we need the negatives to keep ourselves safe.... We don't!

But you can reset your mental algorithm. Start engaging with different thoughts. Challenge the negative ones. Look for small wins, moments of gratitude, or even just neutral thoughts instead of worst-case scenarios.

You don’t have to stay stuck in a negative loop. With time and effort, you can shift your mindset, just like curating a better For You page.

The power of vulnerability, as articulated by BrenĂ© Brown, lies in its ability to foster genuine connections and facilitate emotional growth. Contrary to the common misconception that vulnerability is a sign of weakness, it is, in fact, a courageous act that opens the door to authentic relationships. Brown’s research highlights that when individuals allow themselves to be truly seen, including their imperfections and fears, they create a bridge to deeper understanding and empathy.

In personal contexts, embracing vulnerability cultivates self-awareness and resilience, encouraging individuals to confront their insecurities and grow from them. In relational settings, it strengthens bonds by building trust and intimacy, as both parties feel safe to express their true selves. This openness not only enhances emotional intelligence but also enriches one’s capacity for compassion and acceptance. Ultimately, vulnerability is a powerful tool that transforms lives by enabling meaningful connections and promoting emotional maturity.

Counselling can play a vital role in helping individuals embrace vulnerability. Through a supportive and non-judgemental environment, counsellors encourage clients to explore their fears and insecurities, guiding them to understand that vulnerability is a strength rather than a weakness. This therapeutic process promotes self-acceptance and fosters emotional resilience, empowering individuals to share their authentic selves with others. By learning to navigate their emotions and build trust in a safe space, clients can develop deeper connections in their personal relationships, ultimately leading to enhanced emotional well-being and growth.
