March is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month 💛

Ovarian cancer often causes symptoms that can feel similar to common, non-cancerous conditions - which can make it difficult to diagnose early. Knowing the signs and listening to your body is so important.

Common symptoms include:
• Persistent pain in the lower tummy or pelvis
• Long-lasting abdominal bloating or swelling
• Loss of appetite
• Feeling full quickly after eating
• Back pain
• Needing to urinate more frequently or urgently

Less common symptoms may include:
• Changes in bowel habits (diarrhoea or constipation)
• Unexplained weight loss
• Ongoing fatigue
• Vaginal bleeding after the menopause

If you experience any of these symptoms regularly, don’t ignore them - speak to your GP or healthcare professional.

Early conversations can save lives. 💛

Very excited to host the first in a series of Mindful Menopause Retreat Days in collaboration with Katy of Kintsugi Hypnotherapy, in the surroundings of the beautiful Aubourn Estate in Lincolnshire. All the details are on the website, a combination clinical and holistic expertise to help you navigate midlife with calm confidence 🤍

You deserve a moment. You deserve to understand. ✨

The menopause transition can often feel like a whirlwind of confusion, but it is also a powerful time to pause and reconnect with yourself. We are delighted to invite you to a Mindful Menopause Retreat Day, a unique, women’s-only retreat at the historic Aubourn Hall on Saturday, 18th April.

We want every woman to know this space is for them—whether you are navigating perimenopause (which can begin up to a decade before your periods stop), experiencing natural menopause, or managing induced menopause due to surgery or medical treatment. Whether you are in your late 30s or your 50s, if you are feeling the shift, this day is designed for you.

In the quiet elegance of Aubourn Hall, specialists Katy Hendry (Kintsugi Hypnotherapy) and Claire Barron (The Coastal Women’s Clinic) will help you demystify your symptoms and replace uncertainty with peace.

This day is an invitation to:
• Demystify the Science: Gain evidence-based clinical insights into your hormones and the mind-body connection.
• Find Your Calm: Learn practical tools like Menopause CBT and Mindful Hypnosis to manage anxiety and sleep.
• Invest in Your Future: Take essential time for yourself in a safe, private sanctuary.
• Be Nourished: Enjoy a hormone-supportive lunch and snacks designed for stable energy and mood.
Taking this day for yourself isn't just a luxury, it’s an investment in the woman you are becoming.

🌿 Limited to just 12 participants for an intimate, supportive experience.

💖 February is Heart Awareness Month 💖

Did you know the biggest cause of death in women is heart disease?
Women are six times more likely to die from heart and circulatory disease than from breast cancer.

✨ Menopause matters for heart health.
Oestrogen plays a protective role in the cardiovascular system, and levels fall during menopause — increasing heart disease risk.

⚠️ High blood pressure is another major risk for women — and it’s often missed.
Symptoms such as hot flushes, night sweats, palpitations, fatigue, headaches, dizziness and insomnia can easily be mistaken for menopause symptoms.

🩺 That’s why regular blood pressure checks and proper assessment of symptoms are so important.
Looking after your heart is a vital part of menopause care.

📍 If you have concerns or want to prioritise your heart health, I’m here to help.

At this time of year, nature slows down. The days are darker, quieter… a season of rest, reflection and going inward. Our bodies often crave the same — warmth, early nights, stillness.

But modern life has other plans. Festivities, parties, endless to-dos, gift-buying, hosting and the invisible load many women carry can leave us feeling overwhelmed and depleted. If you’re feeling it — you’re not alone. 🤍

So how can we support ourselves through this season?

✨ Rest when you can — even small moments count.
✨ Be selective — it’s completely OK to say no.
✨ Move your body + get fresh air — gentle, grounding, nourishing.
✨ Drink mindfully — honour what your body needs.
✨ Find joy where it feels real — not where it feels expected.

This winter, give yourself permission to slow down — just like nature intended.

With warmth,
Coastal Women’s Clinic x

Have you noticed that most menopause questionnaires focus only on symptoms and the negative aspects of this transition?
In Western culture, there is such a strong emphasis on youth and avoiding aging that it can shape how we view menopause — and how we view ourselves. This is deeply tied to a patriarchal cultural narrative about womanhood and aging.

But menopause is an inevitable and natural part of life, and it can also bring positive changes.
In some cultures, menopausal women gain elevated social status and are seen as “wise women,” with menopause symbolising the arrival of wisdom and experience.

The stories we’ve been told about menopause do not have to define us.
We can learn to embrace this transition, connect with ourselves in a new way, and move forward with confidence and positivity.

If you’d like to explore this further or find support on your journey, please contact me. 💛✨

World Menopause Day 2025.

This year the theme is Lifestyle Medicine.

Lifestyle medicine is at the heart of all good menopause care. This is because it is an essential part of empowering women to take control over their health and improve their quality of life and this is at the heart of every consultation with me.

Healthy eating, physical activity, restorative sleep, reducing stress, avoiding risky substances, mental wellbeing and healthy relationships are all a vital part of not only improving menopause symptoms, but also overall health and wellbeing.

This is essential for all women going through a menopause transition, even those taking HRT.

Media marketing can often offer quick fixes and make solutions look very easy but can also distract us from taking proper care of ourselves. It can feel overwhelming at times, but tiny steps to improve your lifestyle, if consistent, can be transformative. A lifestyle change costs you nothing but can mean everything.

Happy World Menopause Day ❤️
