If you have an insect bite that is getting worse or concerning you then pop in to see us and get it assessed. Our pharmacy team can advise on how to best to treat it. If it’s infected we can supply antibiotics without a prescription where appropriate.

Impetigo? For treatment think NHS pharmacy first! Think Eggintons!

A child with a rash/blisters/scabs around their mouth and nose may have impetigo - an unpleasant skin infection that's very contagious but not usually serious. Anyone can get it, but it's more common in young children. With treatment, it usually gets better in a few days.

Impetigo starts with red sores or blisters which quickly burst and often leave crusty, golden-brown patches. It commonly affects the face around the nose and mouth.

Please come in and see us if you think you or your child have impetigo. We can provide the same NHS consultation and treatment you would get from a GP, if you need it.

No appointment necessary. FREE treatment for all patients eligible for free NHS prescriptions.
A single NHS prescription charge applies otherwise.

Are you eligible to receive FREE NHS covid tests?

Eggintons are one of the pharmacies providing free lateral flow covid tests to eligible patients.

Anyone aged 85 years or over is eligible and so are younger people with certain medical conditions e.g cancer, Parkinsons Disease, dementia, severe kidney, heart or liver disease, inflammatory bowel diseases, rheumatoid arthritis.

Eggintons Chemist will be closed this coming Saturday 24th August and will reopen after the bank holiday on Tuesday 27th August. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Our computers are now up and running and we are open. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience. We suffered a big IT failure overnight - which possibly could have been triggered by by last nights power cut. It has been impossible for us to access any patient records or process prescriptions today. Consequently we are trying to deal with a backlog of work. For anyone who doesn’t need their repeat medication urgently please can you collect it next week if at all possible? Many thanks for your understanding and our apologies once again.
