Dreams Come True

Both Margarets have been highlighting their afternoon to the residents and staff back at home. We can’t thank the staff enough at Great Yarmouth racecourse for a lovely afternoon, especially Maxine.

Talk about save the best to last both Margaret’s put a bet on, and one first place so they went from a £2 bet to a £27 win.

Dreams Come True

Margaret D has spent over 70 years of enjoying placing bets on the horses. During a chatterbox activity Margaret recalled many times racing on her bike from the dairy in Oulton Broad to the bookies on Victoria Road. Placing bets for her and her aunt.

We found out that Margaret had never experienced a day at the races but would have loved to. So, we contacted the lovely Maxine at Great Yarmouth Racecourse explaining about Margaret and the homes Dreams Come True project. A week lately we received an invitation to join them at the races with a suite to sit in and afternoon tea for Margaret and three guests all for free.

Margaret couldn’t wait to pop her bets on as soon as the race was over she was picking her next horse’s. With a win on race 3 Margaret upped her stakes and pushed the boat out.

Margaret said “ I will never ever forget this afternoon, it’s been a lovely afternoon, Margaret added it’s been the best day for a longtime”.
Margaret also invited fellow resident Margaret Cooper who said “It’s been very enjoyable.

A huge THANK YOU to staff in the Copenhagen suite and for Maxine in helping organising today you have helped us create a lovely experience for all.

Gareth and the team would just like to thank all those relatives that attended the Relative’s meeting this evening at 6 o’clock. A copy of the minutes has been emailed out to all this evening .

As Linda pointed out this evening in the meeting, we would like to extend our thanks to Christine who supplied everybody with an ice cream on Saturday. This was a very kind gesture. ♥️
