Feeling down or depressed can’t always be fixed with our mind 🧠

We have a very powerful gut-brain connection that means when is off the other often is too, and it can be hard to ‘fix’ one without the other 🧠🌱

🌿 Our skin can be a good indicator of what is not being processed and illiminated effectively 🌿

Our liver-gut relationship plays a big part here 💫

Our liver processes excess hormones and toxins and then relies on our digestive tract to eliminate them from the body ✨

When this doesn’t happen, for example due to irregular bowel movements or inflammation, hormones and toxins can re-circulate round the body requiring other ways of being moved out.

Inflammation in the gut can affect acne, eczema and psoriasis.

3 great reasons to prioritise sleep this week 😴

1) We actually use energy (aka calories) when we sleep! This is just one of the many reasons I don’t approve of diets - because food is only one part of how our bodies manage weight! Sleep is a big team player in this which doesn’t get talked about enough 💙

2) Sleep helps lower inflammation ❤️‍🔥 So if you’re experiencing any of the following:
- Skin issues
- Gut health issues
- Aches and pains
- Painful periods
- Brain fog
There is a high chance you have inflammation. You can also tell this by being prescribed steroids (as this is an anti-inflammatory. Sleep here is your friend 😴

3) Our hormones also rebalance while we sleep! This is actually often a big part of perimenopause - so if you’re experiencing a hormonal imbalance of any sort - have a check in with how you’re sleeping at the moment 😴

Our gut-brain connection is extremely powerful 💫 and is one that so often gets missed.

When we feel low in mood, anxious, irritable - it can so often go together with poor gut health 🌱

So much amazing stuff happens in our colon that affects our mood - our energy - our hunger - our weight - and it so rarely gets talked about! ✨

When our bowel movements are too slow or too fast - these amazing things can’t happen and this causes us to feel… well… like sh*t 🥴😵‍💫😔

Anti-depressants typically affect our neurotransmitter serotonin - and a whopping 95% of this is made in our gut! 🌱
