š World Sleep Dayā¦why does sleep matter for your Mental Health?
Today is World Sleep Day, a reminder that sleep isnāt a luxury, itās essential for our emotional wellbeing, mental clarity and nervous system regulation.
Yet for many women, good quality sleep can feel frustratingly out of reach.
Between the mental load of being a mum, busy work schedules, stress, and hormonal changes such as perimenopause, itās incredibly common to experience broken sleep, racing thoughts at night, or waking in the early hours unable to drift back off. Lack of sleep doesnāt just leave us feeling tired, it can affect our mood, resilience, concentration and overall mental health. There was a stage a few years back I was only getting about 4-5 hours sleep š“ a night and it completely wrecked my mood, functioning abilities and happiness.
The good news is that sleep is something we can gently support and improve with the right tools and practices š
One of the ways I help clients with sleep is through hypnotherapy. When we enter hypnosis, the brain moves into a deeply relaxed state similar to the REM stage of sleep - the stage where the brain processes information, restores emotional balance and allows the mind and body to reset.
Hypnosis allows the brain to access this restorative state even when sleep has been difficult, helping calm the nervous system and retrain the mind for healthier sleep patterns.
At Balance Holistic Therapies & Hypnotherapy, I offer several ways to support better sleep:
