Our Group Learning and Academy Manager Em C has had two fantastic days at Brackley Care Home delivering the Nuco Training certified Level 3 Award in Supervising First Aid for Mental Health qualification over the past two days.

By attending this course our Home Managers, Deputy Managers and members of the Senior Management Team learn the key aspects for implementing a positive mental health culture and taking responsibility for First Aid for Mental Health within their service.

We covered a range of subjects, including:
- What is First Aid for Mental Health?
- Identifying mental health conditions
- Providing advice and starting a conversation
- Drugs and alcohol
- First Aid for Mental Health action plan
- First Aid for Mental Health in the workplace
- A large range of Mental Health conditions covered in detail.

Just to say the attendees all passed with flying colours, and it was so great to see Managers from across the services really supporting each other as they shared there personal experiences of Mental Health.

Another fantastic day of training with the team at Eliza Palmer Care Home for our Group Learning and Academy Manager Emma C.

Today featured a morning session of the Level 2 Basic Life Support qualification, fully certified by Nuco Training.

And, this afternoon we looked at Dysphagia, IDDSI and MUST. This is a great skill booster course, which really builds on the knowledge our staff already receive by completing their e-learning awareness courses.

It's so important for staff to think about how important the little things are which can really encourage our residents to eat and drink well - whilst also incorporating any specialist approaches needed for each individual.

Our Group Learning and Academy Manager Em C had such a great day at Eliza Palmer Care Home delivering the NUCO certified Level 3 Emergency First Aid at Work qualification today.

By attending this course our Senior Carers, Night Carers, Nurses, Kitchen staff, Maintenance Personnel and Management Team learn the key aspects of First Aid essential to their role.

We cover a range of subjects, including:
- Responsibilities and reporting
- Assessment of the situation
- Dealing with an unresponsive casualty
- Basic hygiene in First Aid
- Burns
- Epilepsy
- Resuscitation
- Anatomy
- Minor injuries
- Bleeding control
- Choking
- Shock.
