Have you ever wondered by the Three Kings chose gold, frankincense and myrrh to the stable? Well, there is more that never made it to the Gospel of Matthew.

It goes like this: That the gifts were orignally given to Adam and Even when they were cast out of the Garden of Eden as part of a promise that God made that, one day the descendants of Adam would recieve a resurrection.

It's quite an adventure for the treasures, transported by the archangels, no less. Rescued, by Noah, from the waters of the Great Flood. Then watched over by a specially chosen bloodline who would watch for the star, and guard the treasures until they saw it.

The last part of these "Cave of Treasures" stories was only translated into English from a Syrian text in 2010, by a Harvard professor. Prior to that it had been kept safely hidden in the Vatican library.

On the run up the Christmas, we hear the word frankincense many times...but what is it, where did it come from and what in Heaven's name does it have to do with the Queen of Sheba.

I recorded this in lockdown and it never ceases to make me giggle. I have no recollection of writing it, or rehearsing, yet I must have done because it the amount of stuff I remember is phenomenal.

So fascinating, thinking of the journey of the resins all those years ago.
